Little Critter starts out disappointed because his family cannot afford to buy him the latest, most expensive toys. He is jealous when a new rich boy moves into town with everything he ever wanted. Awed, he goes to the new boy's house and relishes playing with all his cool toys. At the urging of his mother, Little Critter finally invites his new friend over to his more humble home and is surprised to find that this rich boy who seemingly has everything is impressed by the things that Little Critter has that he does not (such as a dog, a little sister, and even chores). Little Critter finally realizes how wonderful his family is and shows them his appreciation with a big hug. This is a fabulous story with a great moral. The pictures are bright and intricate, and children will enjoy searching through them to find the little details. The best part about the book is that it comes with thank-you cards that young readers can use to show appreciation to the people in their life for the little things they do. This is a great title in the "Little Critter" series!
