Overview

The very idea of a lady slinging a guitar sets traditional blues fans swooning. But with the release of her debut, Susan Tedeschi slings, aims, and hits her target. What a talent! Singer, songwriter, player, performer, and more, the lady from Boston can do it all. Effective, she does justice to John Prine's classic "Angel from Montgomery" while making her own efforts known. Her tunes include "You Need to Be with Me," "Found Someone New," and the title cut. Leading her own band, she has what it takes to keep the boys in line while she wails away. Big Mama Thornton and Bessie Smith must be proud, and B.B. King must be impressed, since she has opened for that blues master on several occasions. Just a little taste of things to come, Just Won't Burn blazes a trail that Tedeschi is pioneering for herself and younger women in the blues world. A brave heart with spunk and plenty of soul.

Susan Tedeschi is one of the best female vocalists to come along in years. Her new CD is a fine example of the power and energy of her live performances. This New Orleans lady has the intensity of Janis Joplin and the smooth vocal skills of Bonnie Raitt.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Susan live 3 times and her talent just blows you away. Nice to see someone living her dream and rockin the house at the same time. This album is a true gem from the first track to the last.

I heard the song about 4 months ago but just found out who this marvelous voice belonged to during the Grammys Show. My personal favorite is It Hurt So Bad. I actually thought it Janis Joplin the first time I heard it. I also like Rock Me Right.

Just won't burn is an excellent display of Tedeschi's talent. The music world needed someone to bring that fire back to the blues, and bring the daddy of rock and roll back to life with a bang and that's just what Tedeschi did. There's something about her music that gets you hooked, its new and exciting and once you hear it you just can't stop listening to it. To me, there seems to be a lot of hope and sucess in the future of Susan Tedeschi's career.

Like the Joplinish voice. Everything else was good firehall band at best.

How is it possible for a girl that looks like your kid sister to sound like this? What a voice !! You get a great ride with this CD. Hard enough for the real blues fan, but more than enough here to keep anyone satisfied. And, if ''ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY'' isn't the prettiest thing I've ever heard....I am looking forward to more from Susan, but this one will be hard to top.

I love this album. It has a little bit of several styles of blues. Susan is an awesome singer/guitarist. And hopefully she will be around for a long time.

When I first heard Susan sing, I thought who is this?? I became a follower right then. She has a true gift for blues. Her CD brings you into her vocal strength and for me left me exhausted from wanting more. She is truely great. Best CD I purchased this year and can't wait for more.
