Overview

How far would you go to gain justice for you and your family when a loved one has been harmed or murdered?

From the Far East to Indialantic and Palm Bay, Florida, vicious criminals who roam amongst us are engaged in their final curtain call. They are guilty parties who beat the system through the courts, escaped custody, or eluded authorities. Bringing justice to them is the goal of "The Theater Group," which has the power to make it happen. With their Backer, a man with ties to world governments and wealth, the Group gains justice.

A seemingly innocent teenager opens this tale, entangling an infamous serial killer into "The Theater Group's" arena. From drug dealers and pirates to those involved in human trafficking, retribution is as close as a one-act play.

Will the Group survive a government mole from a task force designed to destroy them? Will their secrets be kept?

"Justice and Revenge" will appeal to those who enjoy a story of intrigue and justice, underwritten with the dilemma of questioning right and wrong.

Editorial Reviews

Lee Boyland
Justice for the Victim
Politically correct judges & juries turn criminals loose or give them cushy sentences-something that happens altogether too often. Is there no justice for the victim? Vellekoop provides an alternative path to justice for the wronged. Not another Star Chamber story, something more intriguing & creative. After reading "Justice and Revenge" I started watching the papers for casting calls.

    Great Read/ Great Concept

I enjoyed reading the book especially given the theme. The entire "vigilante" concept is something we all feel conflicted about. My own writing has addressed this issue and I think Holly has found a unique way to resolve the problem. "Pay back" without the violence usually associated with vigilante justice puts a new twist on an old arguement.
    A must read......

Unlike her first novel, Holly Fox Vellekoop¿s Justice and Reveng

Unlike her first novel, Holly Fox Vellekoop’s Justice and Revenge is not a traditional whodunit. Its tension comes not in its protagonists seeking to catch (and catch up with) a criminal; here, the crimes are known, and it’s the perpetrators’ dumb luck that has helped them get away with literal murder—as well as rape, kidnapping, possession, and piracy. The bulk of sympathetic characters are family members intent in seeking justice for wrongs committed to a loved one; most have both the financial means and the acting ability to help the Theatre Group lure their targets into arrest through carefully scripted “Plays.” (As a reader, I wish that I could see more of the Scripts that the Playwrights have crafted.)
The story’s impetus occurs as several hapless villains are put away, and while readers know of past crimes and the players’ motivations, it’s a matter of seeing how the crooks are brought to justice that keeps us reading. In addition, the Group faces what every rogue superhero’s fears, namely the threat of exposure; ironically, the story’s main thrill comes from whether or not this league of justice fighters will be brought to justice for the laws that they might be breaking.
At a recent reading, the author mentioned that readers have approached her, wishing that such a real-life group existed. As the word justice is sown liberally throughout this novel, and as the word revenge rarely appears, it seems that Vellekoop is asking her readers to look inside themselves to ask what they themselves would do, if faced with the possibilities this book suggests.
