Publishers Weekly
Bieber, the platinum-selling singer/songwriter with the hair that launched a thousand trips to the salon, debuts with an account of his 16-year-old life that’s cheeky yet entirely in line with his safe and wholesome image. Published while Bieber is headlining a major North American tour, the book covers his upbringing in Ontario, his early introduction to music, YouTube stardom, his love of pranks, and the stratospheric success he now enjoys--all interspersed with lyrics, tweets, and numerous full-bleed photographs of Bieber in all his brown-eyed glory. Although Bieber’s insights, as he gives props to his family, God, and Usher, are wholly conventional, there’s no reason to think that the faithful won’t eat up every behind-the-scenes tidbit and his message to “Get out of your comfort zone and go for it.” Ages 6–12. (Oct.)
VOYA - Laura Woodruff
This glossy, photo-filled autobiography tells the story of Canadian-born Justin Bieber in his own words. Starting with his birth to soon-separated teen parents, his early days with his grandparents, his fascination with musical instruments—his first was the drum—and his eventual discovery on YouTube to his current superstar status, we witness the making and marketing of a teenaged phenomenon. Entirely positive, even when describing traumatic situations, Bieber begins by thanking his female fans and continues to thank everyone responsible for his success: agent Scooter Braun, sponsor Jermaine Dupri, and a host of others who book, program, transport, set up, and arrange his shows and recordings. Most of all, Bieber expresses his love for and special connection to all of "my favorite girls," for whom he wrote this book. Although Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever is a flagrant marketing tool, it is well designed for its target audience and will certainly appeal to Bieber's large, devoted fan base. No expense was spared on its heavy, colorful pages, large, well-defined print, and exceptional photos (all of Bieber) that occupy half the book. According to the cover, lucky retail purchasers will also receive a free poster. How can any girl resist? Reviewer: Laura Woodruff
Children's Literature - Lynn O'Connell
Pop/soul singer Justin Bieber said about his autobiography, "This is my gift to you, the fans who've supported and been with me on this amazing journey every step of the way." Bieber's amazing journey began when he was discovered on YouTube by music manager Scooter Braun, followed later as his debut album with seven songs made the Billboard Top 100 chart. At the time Bieber wrote this book, he had just released an album which was at the top of the Billboard chart, making him the youngest male solo artist to do this since Stevie Wonder. Bieber gave the book the description: "a window into my world," and the book is definitely a portal to Bieber's world with hundreds of photos as well as a poster. The text is comprised of seven chapters, taking the reader along on Bieber's journey and ending with a "thank you" epilogue. Throughout the book, Bieber has sprinkled many of his thoughts and philosophies, such as: "Every one of you is ?My Favorite Girl' for a different reason, because each of you is special in your own way." He ended the book with a quote: "I hope you'll believe dreams really can come true..." Reviewer: Lynn O'Connell

Gr 4–10—Interspersed with tweets, headline-sized quotes, and graphic, two-page chapter openings, this book has full-color slickness and loads of hype. Only 18 spreads in the entire book don't feature photos of the star. Divided into seven chapters, the text covers the show Bieber was working on while the book was written, his musical background, his family and hometown, how his music videos on YouTube created his fan base, getting a manager, and becoming a star. Within that outline, he attempts to give a sense of himself, as a regular kid who likes to play jokes, loves his family and friends, and is grateful for his success and his fans. For the boy who received a Range Rover for his 16th birthday, his tantrum in the rain after failing to pass his driver's test is rather entertaining. While this book will be popular only as long as Bieber maintains his popularity, it's likely to be worn out before fans are finished with this artist. Keeping the jacket poster will be a challenge, but the book cover displays the same image.—Janet S. Thompson, Chicago Public Library

Meet the Author

Born in Stratford, Ontario, Justin first broke into the music industry when music manager Scooter Braun spotted his performances on YouTube and then joined forces with superstar Usher to sign thirteen-year-old Justin to a record deal with Island Def Jam Music Group.

Justin's latest number 1 album, Believe, came out in June 2012. It follows his number 1 Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe, which was Justin's third number 1 debut in just 18 months. This incredible achievement makes Justin the youngest artist in Billboard history to have a holiday album enter at number 1 and then first solo artist in Billboard history to chart three number 1 albums before his 18th birthday. Prior to Under the Mistletoe, Justin's first album My World 2.0 debuted at number 1 in the charts and featured the single 'Baby', which remains the number 1 most-viewed YouTube video, with currently over 700 million views. Never Say Never: The Remixes, the soundtrack to the highest domestic-grossing concert film in US history, also entered at number 1 in 2011.

Just Getting Started is Justin's second book, following on from the international bestseller First Step 2 Forever: My Story.

In the book "100% Official Justin Bieber First Step 2 Forever: My Story" I believe that the title matches the book very well because it's doesn't have much thought. I agree with the authors choice of this title because it shows you that the book is Justin's words and and it just speaks the truth. This title I think was perfect for the book it just explains everything that the book is about exactly. That it is by Justin, it's something that he will always love, something that will be with him forever, and it's his story about how he was raised, how he was inspired, what mad him who he is today, and how he got to the point that he is right now. All in all I love the title that he chose for this book. I absolutely loved this book. Believe it or not it's not just because I love Justin. I actually liked the book it's self. It was very detailed, and he talked a lot about things that I didn't expect. I expected it to be all about now and what he is doing with himself now. Or what will he be doing next. Or even where he wants to end up. I guess in a way there was a lot of that type of stuff. But for the most port it was about things that are a little more important. One of the main things I enjoyed about this book is how personal it is. The way the book was written it was as if he was right in front off you telling you his story. It wasn't just well I did this oh and then this happened to me. He talked about what he was feeling. He also put thought into it. I also like the fact that he talked a lot about his family and how they helped him. How they got him where he is and how they helped him through things and make certain decisions. This book was very inspiring to me. It showed me that it doesn't matter if your perfect, rich, or poor you can do what ever you want if you put your mind to it. I learned very much from this book. This book taught me that anything can happen and always expect the unexpected. Justin is a very good example for this because in the begging Justin was just a young kid in a poor family that wanted to play hockey and was musical behind the scene's and he say's he never thought anything of it. But look where he is now.The message that I believe Justin was trying to tell his readers obviously worked because I defiantly learned more than I expected to while reading this book. This book was great. I would definitely recommend reading it. You learn so much. About him, and yourself. If you have the chance definitely pick up this. Book you won't regret it. I promise you won't.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) GUYS PLEASE THINK ABOUT THIS. What's more important to you, some celebrity who you will never meet, or your Savior who you could meet tomorrow? I choose Jesus Christ over Justin Bieber

His nusic videos now have so many suggestive themes. In beauty and the beat hes humping nicki minaj. In as long as you love me hes on top of a girl. His pants are too low and he dresses inappropiately in public. Hes also done marijuana which caused a girl to commit suicide and others to cut themselves. He egged his neighbours house and lashed out at his fans. He cusses. And he was arrested for drunk driving. Hes not really someone you should look up to.

You have no right to talk about justin that way!!!!! Have you met him? Do you know him personally? I bet he isnt writing hate comments about YOU!!!! And i dont see you on a world tour!!!! I understand if you dont like him, but keep your opinion to yourself. And if i were you, id stop writing hate notes, because one day, theyre going to catch up to you.
