Overview

Australian Tony Boyle’s powerful story Kangaroo Island is set amid the rugged cliffs and pristine white beaches of the island, located off the South Australian coast. Boyle taps into his island roots to write Kangaroo Island, a story about young love, early loss, and the lessons of life experiences. Matt Ryan, a young man in love with his childhood sweetheart, Cassie Baldwin, fights to overcome the forces arranged against their relationship and for the lives ravaged by his father’s alcoholism. Despite the dark legacy of this disease and the untimely death of loved ones, the compelling story offers hope and spiritual restoration while questioning stereotypes about alcoholics, addicts and real life heroes. Matt and Cassie find solace in their love for each other against struggles with an age old family clash, conflicts with local police over an illegal business and disapproving family members.

Meet the Author

Tony Boyle grew up on the unique and pristine landscape of Kangaroo Island, 12 miles off the rugged coast of South Australia, where he learned about hard work in the knockabout world of the sheep and cattle farmer.
In his mid thirties, his yearning for discovery of the world 'over there on the mainland' took him to Sydney where he started, learning on the job, acting, writing and producing videos eventually opening his own production company. His many projects included stories of the displaced peoples in Africa and Afghanistan, and he produced corporate, promotional and training videos for a solid client base.
In 1990 he went to the USA to marry and continued to work in the media industry, a little acting, a few commercials, telling stories in his down-to-earth Australian style and exuding an obvious love of spinning a good yarn. “I get a kick out of doing it, especially talking about the places I’ve been, the miracles I've seen and experienced, and especially the stories of the people who have a tough time and managed to turn their lives around."
Kangaroo Island is the setting for his first E-book novel, an updated and modified version of his print book “Beyond Passion”. “Kangaroo Island” is the culmination his living a full life; it is a soaring Australian epic of two families that reflects much of what he has observed and experienced, and weaves a tapestry of Australian character with its idiosyncrasies, extraordinary tenacity and deadpan humor.
Today, Tony and his American wife, Kathy, live in Golden, Colorado and return at least once every year to Kangaroo Island... "There’s a mystique about Kangaroo Island that speaks to the soul, reminds me of what’s really important and tops me up with gratitude. It is where I want to be when I leave to meet the Big Bloke."
