    Great Text!

    Although this book was used "very good" I was overjoyed with the condition of this book. I would recommend and use this book seller in the future.

    Read it - subject to principle of volition

    The Groundwork is one of the most accessible of Kant's works and essential reading for serious student of moral philosophy. Kant sought to identify our commonsense conceptions of morality, what these commit us to (both in terms of our reasoning and our moral deliberations) and how they can be justified without reference to an external lawmaker. Not that this is an anti-religious work by any means, I mean simply that one of Kant's greatest achievements was his ability to construct a (albeit flawed) system in which morality is grounded in our nature as free, rational agents in a deterministic world. Far simpler and shorter than the Critiques, the Groundwork neatly packages the bulk of Kant's ethical theory and is an excellent introduction to his writings. I would however recommend the H.J Paton translation as being the most useful.

    A great introduction

    A wonderful, cogent introduction to Kant's philosophy, GMM offers a view to the charm and - yes - humor of Kant's subtle style.
