Riddled with errors. No support. Details in this review.

We have found serious typos and errors, some which cost my son a lot of confusion and time. This would be especially problematic if the student is working independently; without tutor or parent. ------------------------

This list is obviously not comprehensive, my son only took two complete tests. But here are the erros we found; ------------------------

Correct answer does not appear in the multiple choice: --------
    Page 296, Practice Test #1, Math Question 29 --------
The answer key gives the correct answer as "B". However option "B" in the multiple choice reads 2/3 (2 over 3). The correct value as detailed in the explanation (page 346) is 2/5 (2 over 5). The correct value, 2/5, does not appear in the multiple choice at all. --------
How much time did my son waste when his calculated answer did not appear as a choice? My son was left thinking; "I thought I understood how to do this but clearly I'm not good at math!" ------------------------

Typo in sentence repair; "correct" answer would yield ridiculous sentence: --------
Page 469, Practice Test #3, English Test, Question 40 --------
According to the answer key, the correct choice is "H" - "Reichl decided to become". Inserting this phrase in place of the underlined phrase would yield this ridiculous sentence: "To remedy this, Reichl decided to become to become, for short periods of time, someone else" - the repeated text "to become" makes the option appear clearly wrong to the test taker. How much time did my son spend on this question when there are NO correct options in the multiple choice? ------------------------

Test #2 and Test #4 use the identical essay prompts.--------
Page 648, the essay prompt for Practice Test #4 is IDENTICAL to
Page 427 Practice Test #2. Both essay prompts read: --------
"School athletics has become increasingly competitive in recent years, as professional athletes . . ."
So the book contains one fewer essay prompts than it should have. Actually, as you can't simulate a complete test, it has one fewer tests than it should have. ------------------------

My son took only two simulated tests and then used sections for special practice. I have no idea if or how many errors like this appear in the other tests. Some of these errors affected his scores, some wasted time, and some affected his understanding of the material. These are the ones we caught, I'm more concerned about the errors the we didn't realize were errors! ------------------------

Also - the grid for calculating your scaled and composite scores also seemed (to me) to make no sense. (too complicated to describe here). But column headers were confusing and there were only 3 boxes to record scores for the 4 tests in the book.------------------------

Finally, there is no phone support for retail books, and here is the e-mail I got in response to the message I sent them through their website:------------------------

"Thank you for writing Kaplan Book support. Your queries, comments, and feedback are very important to us. Your email is being forwarded to the appropriate editor, and you should get a response within a week.
Thank you for your patience, and best of luck in your studies!"--------

Poor quality, no support, no confidence. Will look to other publishers for our future prep needs.
