I am an AP US History instructor and also an exam "reader" for the essays. I have had excellent results with my students. I attended a workshop this summer to learn about the "redesign" and I have ordered a copy of every review book that is now available. This one is BY FAR the closest to what the exam will look like. Many of the other review books claim to be targeted to the new exam, but they definitely are NOT. I highly recommend this book!

As an APUSH student, I can confirm the factuality of the information in this book. However, the book is sloppily written and contains HUNDREDS of grammatical errors. The presence of these errors is very unnerving and frequently makes it hard to understand what point the writer is trying to get across. The frequency and blaring obviousness of many of these errors makes it obvious that this book was NEVER proofread and was very poorly written. Kaplan, if you are going to claim prestigiousness in the line of AP review books, at the very least get some decent grammar. This is very unprofessional and disappointing.

My daughter just began to consult this book for an upcoming exam, and found it to be awkwardly written and full of non-factual errors, as if it had not been proofread. "the" instead of "they" (p. 99), one place where there is only the letter "h" and not the entire word (p. 104) {probably supposed to be "hanged," but who knows?}, "too" instead of "took (p. 106), singular words instead of the required plural, and so on. The sloppiness makes me uneasy as to the quality of the content. Furthermore, we already had an APUSH prep book, but we bought this due to the new exam format (and other publishers had not yet updated theirs at the time of purchase), but unless the new historical thinking and learning objectives are on the CD, which we haven't looked at, this study guide is useless for that purpose. Would not recommend.
