These vocab cards seemed like they should have been helpful. I spent weeks memorizing words and managed to know ~300 out of the 500 words by the time I re-took my GRE. I was VERY disappointed when only 1 of the words showed up on my GRE (and I got a lower score on the vocab section than the first time I took the GRE), so it felt like a waste of time and money. However it is good to know some of the words anyway, so it wasn't a completely wasted effort (except that there are many words I would never use or have never heard people use).

It is good if you can memorize all of the words, for me sadly I had time to memorize only half of it. Still, I am going to say its good because these 500 words are more likely to appear on GRE and they are easy to carry for learning purposes. Also do check most tested GRE vocabulary words from Princeton cracking the GRE 2010. They have shorter version of these words, but almost all of the words on their list are also in this box. So if you have time, just memorize all of these words in this box and you are most likely good to go.

This product helped me prepare for the GRE, and my verbal score went up by 150 points. The synonyms on each card helped me make connections between the words and helped clarify the connotations that are key to the analogies on the test questions. Having the words on individual cards made studying easier by allowing me to weed out words I already knew and focus on the ones that I needed to learn. I could keep a few cards in my pocket at all times so that I could review whenever I had a few minutes to spare.
