About the Author

About The Author
Kate Chopin (born Katherine O'Flaherty) (1851-1904) was an American writer known for her short stories of Southern, particularly Cajun, life. Born in St. Louis to a French-descended mother, Chopin's works were often set in New Orleans or Natchitoches. Within a decade of her death, Chopin was widely recognized as one of the leading writers of her time, and she is now considered to be a forerunner or earlier representative of 20th century feminist literature.
