It's Christmas time, but Cecile is surrounded by heat, dust, strangers, and death. If she'd accepted Colin's proposal and stayed in Canada, she would be enjoying a "normal" Christmas. Instead, she's stranded in the middle of the Kalahari Desert, serving as the lone nurse at a mission clinic, faced with medical emergencies she wasn't trained to deal with. Little has changed despite months of hard work. Cecile has never been a quitter, but she's tempted to just pack it in and return home. She wants her life to make a difference. Did she mistake God's calling in her life?

Cecile, a young nurse, leaves a promising relationship and all the comforts of home when she answers the call to be a missionary in Africa. But harsh conditions, homesickness, and threats from the government, make her wonder if she really did the right thing. Meanwhile, back in Alberta, her former beau, Colin, hears what he thinks is God’s voice asking him to give up his new medical practice and follow Cecile to the mission field. It would take a miracle for everything to fall into place in order for him to go. Cecile needs a few miracles as well, since her clinic is about to be shut down. God is in the miracle business, however, especially at Christmas. With a touch of sweet romance running through it, Cecile’s Christmas Miracle by Ruth Snyder is primarily a story about trusting God.
Cecile has turned down a proposal of marrige from Colin, a young doctor for whom she has feelings, choosing instead to spend her life working among theSan bushman people fo the Kalahai Desert in Botswana. As Christmas approaches she is despondent and questions the wisdom of her decision. Cecile's discouragement deepens when she discovers that the govenment is closing her clinic and relocating the San Bushman. Meanwhile, Colin has a conversation with God following which he is determined to join Cecile in Botswana for Christmas. But he establishes three conditions. Whilte two of these conditions are miraculously met, the third presents a challenge. Cecile's Christmas Miracle is a story of the sights and sounds of desert life and it details the medical realitiies of a culture with limited access to care. More than that, it is a story about ways in which God meets the needs of His people.
