Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
AGERANGE: Ages 2 to 5.

Katy is a really cute duck and, what appears to be the first in a new board book series, is a charmer. Katy loves to dance and her dancing, like that of most young kids, is solo. She pirouettes, leaps, and stretches out her arms and legs. It is fun to dance anytime she feels the urge and in any weather. Even a big snow suit and galoshes do not deter Katy. Mrs. Duck decides that Katy, with all of her exuberance and love of dancing, is a natural for Mr. Tutu's School of Dance. Oh my, going to a class and performing with other students is not something Katy seems ready to handle. Mr. Tutu has certainly had experience with shy students and he cleverly gets Katy involved and dancing, just like she always has done. Katy's body language and expressions as well as those of the other animals who populate the pages are really amusing, and kids will quickly understand and relate to Katy Duck. PreS
With a dance for every season, Katy Duck loves to "twirl like a leaf" and "stretch like a flower." But when her mother sends her for lessons, she's not so sure she wants to join in. With the help of Mr. Tutu, the duck overcomes her initial fear and joins in with her classmates. Children will relate to Katy's initial fears of performing in front of a group. Colorful, expressive watercolors of the duckling dancing outside during different seasons, and then practicing with the other animals in her class complement this simple story.

    Such a cute book!

This is an adorable little book. The story is great and the illustrations are engaging. It makes a perfect gift--especially if you throw in a tutu! Buy one for a little dancer that you know.
