    Great Beginning Book

This book is really nice for beginners to get an idea of what kayaking is like and some of the basic steps. However, if it's whitewater you want to get into, this book has some older boats featured and is not comprehensive of all the styles that are out there. If you want to learn some basic paddling maneuvers, intro to rolling, and how to "read" a river, then this is the book for you. If you are looking for in depth information about the different types of whitewater kayaks available and what each one of them accomplishes in your experience on the river, then seek another book. Overall, this book is well laid out, easy to read, and the diagrams are very helpful and informative. Great first book to keep in your permanent library on the subject. It is also comprehensive in that it discusses lake/ocean kayaking as well.

    Kayaking for dummies

Kayaking is a straight forward easy to understand explanation of the ins and outs of kayaking. The illustrations are in color!

If you are thinking of kayaking or are already a beginner I highly recommend this book. It explains all the details of different types of kayaks and helps you decide which ones would be the best for you for how you intend to use it. It also describes the variety of necessary gear such as life vests and paddles. This book clearly explains maneuvers for practical use of a kayak.

After reading this book you will discover that kayaking is not some sport for just for those thrill seeking action adventurists. You can have a quiet relaxing float down a sleepy river or calm lake. Children and older adults will also appreciate the joy of kayaking.

I am now ready to hit the water!
