Overview

Grandfather says this: “In life there is sadness as well as joy, losing as well as winning, falling as well as standing, hunger as well as plenty, bad as well as good. I do not say this to make you despair, but to teach you…that life is a journey sometimes walked in light and sometimes in shadow.”

Grandfather says this: “Keep going.”

These thought-provoking lessons, passed down by the author’s own Lakota grandfather, will inspire the hundreds of thousands who already know his work—and will tap into the market that has embraced such books as Oriah Mountain Dreamer’s The Invitation.

When a young man’s father dies, he turns to his sagacious grandfather for comfort. Together they sit underneath the family’s cottonwood tree, and the grandfather shares his perspective on life, the perseverance it requires, and the pleasure and pain of the journey. Filled with dialogue, stories, and recollections, each section focuses on a portion of the prose poem “Keep Going” and provides commentary on the text.

Readers will draw comfort, knowledge, and strength from the Grandfather’s wise words—just as Marshall himself did.

"Highly Recommended" not strong enough words for a Must-Have text

This book came to me several years ago during a time of great need. It literally fell into my hands while I was reaching across a bookshelf. It saved my heart and quieted my spirit. It came to me again a few weeks ago through my curious young daughter asking about its marked, highlighted, and worn pages. I tried to ignore it but it could not be done. Once again it has spoken louder than the pain in my soul, lifting me to take that one next step required to defeat despair. Our God is one God and he speaks to each of us in the way of his choosing. What I clung to in this marvelous text a few years ago still holds meaning; but, now it is other pages that are worn and folded and marked. If you are wondering what to do next; asking Why?; How?; or simply seeking something - anything - to give you quiet during these loud times in which we live; I hope you reach for this book.

    Amazing

If you read this book your life will change. It is not a novel and you will miss much if you read it as one. I have had this book for years and on any day under any circumstance i can open to any chapter and find solice. Every word is perfectly chosen and every story has many lessons and many answers. It is written from the heart for the heart and is delivered without an agenda allowing you to connect your dots to your life. I have given so many copies to friends and family when they are feeling the weight of life eclipsing their spirit. Soon you see the light return and they have begun to KEEP GOING.
