Overview

It's been over ten years since Big was killed. I grieved for him for a very long time. And then, as time passed, the icy wall of grief surrounding my heart began to thaw and I began to heal. I remarried, had more children, and continued to record and release more music. I continued to live my life. And while I can never discount the time I spent with Big, I've never felt the need to live in the past.

But sometimes, I still find myself thinking about Big being rushed the hospital, and I break down in tears.

It's not just because we hung up on each other during what would be our last telephone conversation. And it's not because I am raising our son, a young man who has never known his father.

It's partly all of those things. But mainly it's because he wasn't ready to go. His debut album was called Ready to Die. But in the end, he wasn't. Big never got a chance to tell his story. It's been left to others to tell it for him. In making the decision to tell my own story, it means that I've become one of those who can give insight to who Big really was. But I can only speak on what he meant to me.

Yet I also want people to understand that although he was a large part of my life, my story doesn't actually begin or end with Big's death. My journey has been complicated on many levels. And since I am always linked to Big, there are a lot of misconceptions about who I really am.

I hope that in reading my words, there is inspiration to be found. Perhaps you can duplicate my success or achieve where I have failed. Maybe you can skip over the mistakes I've made. Use my life as an example-of what to do and in some cases, what not to do.

It's not easy putting your life out there for the masses. But I've decided I'll tell my own story. For Big. For my children. And for myself.

I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! FAITH IS A INSPIRATION! KEEP THE FAITH!

I have always loved Faith...we are not very far apart in age and neither are our daughters. I have waited so many years to hear her side of the story. This book is a true life story of everything that she went through to get to where she is today. She didn't sugar coat things at all. She cleared up alot of misconceptions.
Faith is a "Jersey Gurl" like myself...the time when "Bad Boy" was on the rise was a good time for me as well...You can relate to her during that era.
She loved "Big" you could never doubt that after reading this...she fell in love hard and fast..a very true love story lied between them even though it wasn't typical "Romeo & Juliet".You must read this book!!!
I got the book in the mail Saturday evening and was done by Monday morning...(it would've been done sooner except I did have to sleep for a few hours).
This gives the "raw" on how life is at times and it also shows you how years down the line your life may not end up what you imagined it to be. People grow up learn from their mistakes.
Faith is amazing woman who loves her husband and her children. She has always been one of my top 3 female R&B singers and this book proved why I always knew she was going to be legendary.
She survived alot & makes sure her son CJ knows of his fathers legacy.

    Good Read

As a long time fan of Faith Evans I was impressed by this book. She was open and honest about her relationship and put a lot of false rumors to rest.

    Good Read

I purchased and read this book soon after it was released. It was enlightening to see into Faith's life and perspectives into relationships she held.

Although I've always been a HUGE fan of Faith as an artist, I walked away with a new appreciation for her and the meaning behind her music.

Good read. If you're considering whether to grab it, I recommend that you do. You won't be disappointed.

    Wonderful!!!!!!

I read this book as soon as it came out and I was extremely pleased. Growing up as a teenager in the mid 90's was a great time in NYC, I remember vividly how it used to be. HIP-HOP was coming into it's own and singers were using hip-hop beats and Mary was leading the pack.I heard "You used to love me" at a party and from then on, I have been a Faith fan. I appreciated the fact that she held no punches in her story which made for a great read and her ongoing journey. EXCELLENT!!!

    A Great Read!

Not only was the book informative explaining the humble beginnings of Hip Hop, P. Diddy and the start of Bad Boy but more importantly Faith's life story is a true testament to all young black females everywhere trying to survive everyday life being a strong woman in a difficult situation (marriage to BIG and the industry), raising children and trying to be a successful artist in the music industry all at the same time. I thought it was a great read!

    Great Memoir

This was a great read. I couldn't put it down. Faith did a great job in detailing the roller coaster that led to her career and life before and after Bad Boy records.

    NewYork's Knowledge

Allow me to first say this book was excellent. I have been a Faith Evans fan since she stepped on the scene in 1995. As, a fan you only know what is portrayed on television, or even hearing on the radio. Faith went through alot as a young woman. In this book she showed many insecurites. This book needs to be used as a tool for young woman to know that laying down with every man is not the answer.Faith acted as if that was her answer to everything even meeting her husband. She was still not completly over BIG. I have tremendous love for Faith as an artist But, I hope today she love herself!
