Overview

The 10th anniversary edition of the reader favorite. Nearly a million people have read the Ruin Mist books -- available via Barnes & Noble, Audible, Playaway, OverDrive, and more than a dozen other retail and library partners.

Readers around the world are discovering Robert Stanek and Ruin Mist. Now in this 10th anniversary edition of the top-selling title, you can get the ultimate Ruin Mist experience.

About the Book

Three heroes set out on an epic journey of discovery only to find that at the end of their journey nothing is what they thought it was and that their world is undergoing a transformation that will change everything. Survival in a changing world depends on their ability to adapt and if they fail, their world and everything they believe in will perish.

About the Series

After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 hundred years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man or device, shall be cleansed to dust. Creatures born of magic were hunted to extinction. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond.

The one hope of the peoples of Ruin Mist was Queen Mother, the elf queen of old. She saw a way out of everlasting darkness, a path that required the union of the divided peoples. Yet the Elves of the West did not share her vision. They thought her mad and answered her call for help with a call to arms. Now for the first time in recorded history, the armies of the West are marching toward the sacred city of the East and an unholy war where elf must fight elf is inevitable.

Though despair abounds and evil seeks to reign, there is hope. Queen Mother sees hope through a union of the divided peoples: an alliance of men and elves to fight against the forces of darkness. But between men and elves, there is no love and little trust. Only truth and faith can guide their destinies.

Some fear this age to be Ruin Mist's last. For if men succumb to darkness there will be no beginning and darkness will surely rule forever. It is in this time at the twilight of the age of men that those long lost have returned to thwart the darkness. They are the fallen sons of ages past and present. They are the keepers, the watchers, and the guardians. They are those who hold the key to Ruin Mist's future.

Meet the Author

William Robert Stanek has been a writer for over 30 years. Writing as William Stanek, he's helped millions build essential job skills. Writing as Robert Stanek, he's introduced millions to new worlds and ideas. His books are available in more than 50 countries and 20 languages. Nearly a million people have read or listened to his Ruin Mist books via Barnes & Noble, Audible, Playaway, OverDrive, and more than a dozen other retail and library partners.

Though Robert Stanek's always been a writer at heart, he never set out to be a writer. What he wanted to be, he didn't know when he said goodbye to high school. What he wanted to do though, he knew that: he wanted to see the world--and so he did while serving his country in distant lands.

He wrote novels for more than ten years before he ever tried to get published. His big break came with a book about publishing--only a different sort of publishing than you may be thinking. The book was about web publishing and so his career in writing began. His books have been written about and recommended by the YA librarian staff at VOYA, Publisher's Weekly, Parenting Magazine, the Journal of Electronic Defense, The Children's Bookshelf, Children's Writer, the Wall Street Journal, Popular Series Fiction for Middle School and Teen Readers: A Reading and Selection Guide, and other fine publications and periodicals.

In his long, distinguished career, his books have been distributed and published by Simon & Schuster, Random House, Macmillan, Pearson, Microsoft, O'Reilly, and others. He was also a columnist for PC Magazine and Dr. Dobbs. After high school, he joined the military to see the world and has lived in Asia, Europe, the Pacific, and many parts of the United States. He served two combat tours in the Gulf War as a combat flyer. Learn more at www.robertstanek.com, www.ruinmistmovie.com, and www.bugvillecritters.com.

    Really poor writing.

I cannot stress just how bad this book is, the story is bland and vanilla, very unoriginal and on top of that the prose is just poor, like a 12 year old wrote it. Just some of the most bland uninspiring stuff I have ever read. Bought it based off the 5 star reviews and after I was done all I could think was "am I reading the same story all these other people are". This guy is no Tolkien, or Jordon or even a Martin no idea how anyone could draw a comparison just bland bland bland stuff, would not recommend.....sorry.

Terrible story, bad writing. Not to mention this author has a dubious history of creating fake reviews for his books, very unethical practices. I would not recommend.

    INCREDIBLE!!! FACINATING!!! A MUST READ.

This book is beyond good, it's amazing and the 100+ illustrations only make it that much better. Now I love Tolkein which is why I loved this, Stanek has an expansive imagination like tolkein and I see a great career for him, he will also appeal to more people because he does not use old english kind of language, but that is besides the point. This book was great, and this is the third time I bought this book. I borrowed out and read my first copy so much it fell apart. I bought another copy last year, but couldn't help buying this special edition as soon as I saw it. Incredible! I loved every page, I couldn't stop reading, even on what was surely the 10th read or more. There are times where you think its one of those obvious twists and then Stanek switches it completely around, surprising you. The story is great.

    Worth every penny!

Keeper Martin's Tale is one of the best books I've read in a long, long time. The story is complemented by absolutely stunning illustrations. The illustrated guide to the kingdoms at the end is excellent.

    Fantastic!

Keeper Martin's Tale is such an amazing introduction to this brilliant series. I love how the narrative changes between the three main characters and keeps you guessing every step of the way. It all comes together in the middle of the book and keeps going to the end. WOW!
