Book 1 in the Keeper Series

Minnesota lumber baron Tyler Wilkins knew he needed to come to grips with the death of his wife. Little did he understand that his business trip to New York would be the beginning of a journey to find peace within himself and a love that sometimes happens twice in a lifetime.

Beautiful Emma Sanders has her entire world mapped out. Being the daughter of one of the richest shipbuilders in New York in 1880 guaranteed her a life of leisure. It also guaranteed the option she'd chosen-to remain single and manage her father's company someday. That is, until Tyler walked into her father's study and turned her world upside down. Crossing paths with this one sad man would change the course of her life forever.

The mysticism of an old Indian brave...a forgotten evil that lurks in Emma's past...one tragic hour in their lives, will all combine to lead them to a future filled with trust and understanding...and the discovery of peace and love that a man and woman can share.

This book was a fantastic read

This book was free book and it was over 900 pages long, which in itself is great but it also was so good. I read this book in two days because I just couldn't put it down. The main couple in the story Tyler and Emma you will fall in love with. It is a period romance but it so much more than just a romance. The story is so involved and the villian in the story is a true villan that truly has a part in the book. In alot of historical romance books the villan doesn't cause any real harm but Samuel does cause of a lot of harm and hurt for the couple. I will check into other books of Ruby Storm for sure. Hope you enjoy the book.

    Wonderful!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story line was so telling of the era it took place in. The characters came to life for me as did the different events that they had. Great read! Thanks to the author

    Too Long

I thought this book's premise sounded interesting but it was very long, over 900 pages, and I got bored after the first few chapters. The historical anachronisms in the dialog pulled me out of the story and there was a lot of telling how characters felt instead of just showing through actions and words. I found myself skimming the bulk of the book.

I think I might enjoy this story more if it was tightened up and cut down in length. Stlye-wise, it reminded me of those epic early 80's romances. It even has a couple plot similarities with "Ashes In The Wind" by Kathleen Woodiwiss...the heroine has to escape the villian by marrying the hero and moving to the Minnesota wilderness and a mute girl begins to speak after she finds the heroine, with whom she has bonded, in danger after the villain shows up in Minnesota.

Also, be warned, there are two rape scenes depicted in the story and one is quite brutal.

I was surprised that this story held my interest throughout the whole book. Never a dull moment and lots of excitement and emotion...well done.

    Ughh!!!

When will this book end! I love the free books B&N offer. I appreciate it even more when it's actually a full length novel and not a novella. I just don't think you have to go on and on to make a good book.
