DANGEROUS! DO NOT BUY!

I purchased this book for my husband. I thought it would give him helpful tips for taking care of our daughter. Instead, it suggested that he put the baby alone in a room and shut the door. Then play a recording with dad's voice to "entertain" the baby and encourage him/her to crawl toward the voice. The point of the exercise? To give dad time to drink beer and order a pizza. Unconciousable!!! This book should be removed from inventory. I can't believe any company would even publish it.

My husband laughed out loud

I think he thought this was the best shower gift ever. I guess my sister was pretty clever to think of it. After Ray told me how much he liked Keeping the Baby Alive (and I heard him laughing in the next room), I went out and bought Keeping the Grandkids Alive for his dad and my dad. Don't know if they will read the granddad book, but they were very happy to receive it as a gift. Grandfathers (and dads too) are sometimes forgotten about, I believe.

Hysterical and True to Life

I gave this Special Edition to my brother for his co- ed baby shower. He has called me twice since to tell me this is the best present I could have ever given him. It must be pretty funny, because he couldn't stop laughing about it over the phone. My sister-in-law told me they both loved the chapter 'Birthing Suites Ain't Made for Babies' and the one on the 'Ten Commandments of Infant Care'. Based on their response, I say don't hesitate to give this book to any expecting dad on your gift list.

Unique Sense of Humor

This book is really funny, but it is not just a joke book like others who have tried parenting humor. If you are a new father or a father-to-be, and you like off the wall humor like David Letterman, Conan O'Brien or a good Saturday Night Live sketch, you will love Keeping the Baby Alive till Your Wife Gets Home. While you are laughing though, you will realize that there is substance behind the humor. That's the best part. Later this year, if I don't get the sequel on toddlers for the holidays, I will buy it for myself.

My husband loved this book

My sister actually gave it to him as a shower gift for our second baby. He loved the humor in 'Keeping the Baby Alive'--laughed so hard he had tears in his eyes. Personally, after reading several heavy-duty books on father-parenting, I think he really appreciated having a fun book written especially for him.
