This is the first book I have read for pleasure since I graduated from college...the last book I had read for fun was a long time ago when I was in elementary, the babysitters club, and man had I been missing out!! this book is soooow good! I finished it within hours! The story is so well written and Susan has a way with detail that paints such a vivid picture that you can truly feel and get giddy about. I highly recommend this book.

This book had a cute story line. It is a bit predictable, but I loved every moment of it. A nice, light hearted, read.

I Also Recommend:
What a great book! I loved the plot, the characters grabbed me, and I could even relate to the kids in the story (as a non-mom, that's saying something!). It is just another great book by Donovan. I've found myself buying one or two of her novels every payday; they're just that good.

I think this is Susan Donovan best book. I've read five of her books. I do believe this is the best. The banter is witty and quick. I usually not a fan of stories with children in it but how can you not fall in love baby Dakota. The Dakota characeter just made me laugh at loud. I would reccomend this for the beach, rainy day read, and weekend read. I read this book in one sitting. The storyline was nicely balanced and believeable for Samantha. Enjoyed Jack even though the crying at the end of the story was bit cheesy. The only typo I saw was Howard University being located in Maryland, the last time I checked it was in DC..not sure if they have campuses in Maryland correct me if I am wrong. I like the character Monte, she was enjoyable but at the same time she wasn't to sterotypical depiction of an Afro-American.

If you like a book with sensual romance this is a book for you. It is very modern day and intriguing. This is no fairy-tail youngster story. It is about passionate and deep love that changes the characters to their core.
The characters are in their prime and this is definitely for those that like to see a complicated love, still fight it's way to a happy ending.
It was my first time reading a book by this author and I am definitely going to purchase some of her other book.

Really, what's so wrong with being a kept woman!? :) If you enjoy romance, comedy, and the unexpected at times then i would recommend this book. Left me with that nice happy feeling at the end.

I love to read and let me tell you this is the fastest book I haven't been able to put down. There wasn't any of the usual 'page fill', the characters all coincided, and the book just wonderfully flowed....great Job!!! A definate can't put down type of book with lots of romance.

This is a definite must for the summer reading list. I picked this up at the store on pure impulse and loved it! I could hardly put it down. The characters are fun and flawed and the story was fun to follow. I'll be picking up more of Ms. Donovan's books from now on!

Susan Donovan has written another fun and sexy tale in The Kept Woman. Hairstylist Samantha Monroe is hanging on by a very thin thread. Her ex had left her and their three children to raise and now bills are overflowing. She gets an offer she can¿t refuse to be the fake fiancée of hotshot politician Jack Tolliver until after the election. Sam is determined to use her paychecks from Jack to make a better life for her kids. But Sam didn¿t could on her heart falling for this man. Jack Tolliver needs to tone down his playboy image. A pretend engagement to a divorced mother of three should be just the ticket. But Sam is not the dowdy woman he was prepared to meet. Sam is sexy, funny and she makes Jack feel better then he has all of his life. Can he pretend to be in love with this woman and not give into his attraction to her? And what will happen if the press finds out the truth. The Kept Woman is a treasure of a book. It really made me laugh and root for these two to fall in love. Susan Donovan writes such delightful books, looking forward to the next one.

Three years ago Mitchell abandoned his wife and three children leaving Samantha Monroe to raise their kids by herself on her hair styling salary. The latest torment comes from the Wee Ones Academy that threatens to expel her son from the school because he has some toilet issues. Thus at the monthly Drinks and Depression Nights with her friends, two margaritas and a zillion frustrations lead to Sam saying she is ready to become a kept woman if that will help her kids. --- Sam¿s rant gives political handler and D&D card carrier Kara DeMarinis an out of the universe idea to help her playboy client Jack Tolliver overcome his hedonistic image while running for Senator from the red state Indiana. Jack will become engaged to Sam, who surprises everyone including herself by agreeing to perform as she obtains security for her kids. As Sam and Jack pretend to be in love, they fall in love while offensive TV reporter Christy Schoen seeks to expose their relationship as a ruse. --- THE KEPT WOMAN is a lighthearted contemporary romantic romp that pokes fun at the marriage of convenience theme and even deeper jabs at the serious sound bites and crisis image management spins that are the cornerstones of the American political system. Combining the two, fans obtain a facetious glimpse at how far image making has gone (sort of a romantic version of Eric Dezenhall¿s JACKIE DISASTER). --- Harriet Klausner

I loved her older books. But I swear It's like someone else wrote this predictable, boring, and repetitive novel! You can scan through this book while you're at the book store. Save your money....
