This book is worth its weight in gold! I began using Lauren’s DVD’s in 2009. At that time, I had just given birth to my third baby. Just a short time later, I was back to my pre-pregnancy size. I had so many questions about kettlebells when I first started using one. This book will easily answer all of yours. It will also give you the knowledge and power to succeed. The book includes a section about nutrition. A complete training program you may use if you are beginner, intermediate, or advanced. It also includes an extremely detailed description of each exercise. I find this book useful for designing you own programs as well. This book is a comprehensive guide for all your training needs. I highly recommend it!
I am a fitness and performance coach and a Muscle Activation Techniques specialist. This book is a must have for anyone looking to increase strength and change their body using kettlebells. I have used these programs personally, they are highly effective and nicely progressed. I especially value the warm-up and joint mobility sections of this book, Lauren does a fantastic job of emphasizing their importance. Overall, each exercise is well explained and easy to follow. I highly reccommend this book and look forward to her future publications.
As a fitness professional for over 15 years, I know workouts and I know them well. Kettlebell training has become quite popular lately, but unfortunately there are risks. It's easy to injure yourself if you don't have precise and proper form. You can't just buy a kettlebell on your own, without training, and begin swinging it around. You not only need instruction, you need exceptional instruction. There are quite a few home fitness DVDs on the market that cater to kettlebell training, but in many of them form isn't emphasized enough. This is not so with Lauren Brooks. Her kettlebell DVDs stress proper form and alignment, ensuring not only a fantastic workout but providing the motivation to perform each exercise correctly. When I discovered she was coming out with a book, I knew I had to get it. I'm not disappointed! Each page is filled with precise tips, exceptional form, and a wealth of fabulous exercises. If you're interested in kettlebell workouts, this book is a must. If you've been training with the bells for awhile, this book will provide you with new exercises as well as tips on how to maximize the benefits on the traditional favorites. I recommend this book to my clients and friends alike.
I have been using kettlebells since the end of 2009. I have had 2 c-sections and gained 35lbs with each pregnancy. I have always been active and athletic but I never saw any muscle definition before using kettlebells. It is an extremely effective fat-burning and muscle toning type workout. I am leaner and more toned that I ever was prior to having babies and I have more energy and eat much healthier. If you want to start training with kettlebells or if you already are using kettlebells, you will get so many great workout variations from Lauren's book. The pictures are extremely helpful in teaching you the correct form. The majority of my kettlebell workouts are done from my home with my 4 different sized kettlebells - I just make up my routines as I go. But now I have a tool to look at each time I do my workouts - I can change up my routine and get fresh ideas and make sure I am getting balanced workouts. I love the fact that I can get in an intense workout with 4-8 different exercises which target many areas and sometimes the entire body instead of just targeting 1 muscle at a time...it's just so efficient! Training with Lauren has been truly inspirational and has changed my life. If you can train with a certified kettlebell instructor to learn the proper form in the beginning then you should. Lauren's DVD's are amazing as well - she is a no-nonsense instructor with proven results. People are always asking me what I do to stay in such great shape and I say "kettlebells." Then I tell them about Lauren, her dvd's and of course her new book!!
