Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - RevaBeth Russell
With action photographs the young sports-minded reader will enjoy this book. Words that might be unfamiliar are bolded and then defined at the bottom of the page in a colored box. If the reader is sports-minded they will probably know most of these words anyway. The reader will learn that Kevin is close to his mother. Kevin started basketball with an amateur team then continued to play in high school and college basketball. Kevin left college after one year to join the NBA where his statistics were amazing. As an athlete, his accomplishments are impressive. For the developing sports fan all of these statistics might be wonderful and they might recite them as a mantra. Oddly, the book never mentions the hard work Kevin must have done to get where he is or anything else about him as a person. Has he done any good in the world? This reader wants to know.
