What Kevin is, is a top notch teen detective. He and his friend, Anna, take on all challenges. In this book, Kevin relates in the first person his first 6 big cases. There are ghosts that have the kids in a panic, a robbery planned to take down the local bank, a suspicious stranger comes to town some think is there for no good, a picture of a young girl starts a major search for answers about one of his old friends, a series of code messages like spies use arrive in his mailbox, and a very old piece of jewelry holds fascinating secrets from the World War II past. Although Kevin is not always in danger, it happens often enough that his parents really don’t want to know what he’s doing.

Editorial Reviews

Email Reviews - Alice Belgrade
Uniquely, these stories appeal to both boys and girls. The hint of unresolved romantic tension between Kevin and his ‘best friend’, Anna, adds an enjoyable element for the older readers but isn’t a distraction for the younger and less mature ones. I have them on the reading list for my sophomore literature class.
Email Reviews - Trasha Patreno
Kevin and Anna make a great team. They are both really likeable and I enjoy the good natured teasing that goes on between them. The mysteries are exciting and lots of fun.
The book gets this teen’s enthusiastic endorsement!

Meet the Author

The author has been writing for young people for many years (and older people, too). In all he has created close to 100 books and many hundred short stories. He and his wife helped raise lots of troubled foster boys, which gives him first-hand experience on which to draw. Many of his stories pair a man and a boy as they work together to solve some problem or work through some situation. He loves young people and hopes that each of his books brings not only fun and excitement but also something useful that can help improve the readers’ lives. (David Drake is a pen name of Tom Gnagey – easier to pronounce, wouldn’t you agree!).
