My husband is from China but never really learned to cook. Every one compliments my way with Chinese food, how authentic everything tastes and assume that my hubby taought me how to cook. No, it was Irene Kuo! She explains everything so well that it's great to make things from her recipes. I have both additions now, the first one is duck taped together and stained. I have the new addition but I keep it in my china cabinet because it's out of print I don't want to mess it up until the first one is beyond reading. I really wish she would put out an updated version.

A great book for anyone wanting to make delicious Chinese food at home. Kuo provides detailed directions on each cooking technique and a wide selection of recipes to go along with them. I particularly recommend her vegetable recipes .. the sweet and sour red cabbage is a family favorite.
