Overview

From the bestselling author of Communion comes the mysterious true story of how an unknown visitor barged into Streiber's hotel room late one night—and imparted extraordinary lessons in personal development and man's fate that challenge us to rethink every assumption about the meaning of life.

At two-thirty in the morning of June 6, 1998, Whitley Streiber was awakened by somebody knocking on his hotel room door. A man came in, and everything he said was life-altering.

This is the unsettling and ultimately enlightening narrative of what happened that night. Strieber was never really sure who this strange and knowing visitor was—a "Master of Wisdom"? A figure from a different realm of consciousness? A preternaturally intelligent being? He called him the Master of the Key. The one thing of which Strieber was certain is that both the man and the encounter were real.

The main concern of the Master of the Key is to save each of us from self-imprisonment. "Mankind is trapped," the stranger tells Strieber. "I want to help you spring the trap." In a sweeping exchange between Strieber and the stranger—which takes the form of a classical student- teacher dialogue in pursuit of inner understanding—the unknown man presents a lesson in human potential, esoteric psychology, and man's fate. He illuminates why man has been caught in a cycle of repeat violence and self-destruction—and the slender, but very real, possibility for release.

In its breadth and intimacy, The Key is on par with contemporary metaphysical traditions, such as A Course in Miracles, or even with the dialogues of modern wisdom teachers, such as D.T. Suzuki and Carl Jung.

    Interesting

This certainly can be a thought provoking work, remaining basic in its content and mystery, its something for the beginner who possess an open mind. Given the content, it's also something that the gullible will surely feast upon, unable to separate fiction from fact. Keep your guard up and also an open mind in order that you distinguish the enlightened from the dark and not be taken in the culling. The master has laced deceit in the truth, both of which you will find here, knowing the light from the dark will allow you to find the freedom within, the God within. I fear more shall find the dark in this work as they mistake it for the light, none the less, this is how you find the light.

Top 3 books Ive read this year

How profoundly convincing and intriguing is Whitley! many truths that the mysterious man tells Strieber are scientific facts that have just been discovered. There truly is a secret within this book that can change the way we see our universe and mans connection with it.

    Just buy it!!!

If this story is true....... it is truely THE MIRACLE of our century!!! Quite amazing. I am actually going to read a second time to closely scrutinize further what the master of the key quoted with concern to events in our time. Real or not??? You be the judge. I am strongly leaning towards a real, true miracle!!!! Thank you Whitley for this extrodinary information. God bless

A Must Read - Highly Recommended - However Read Comments Below:

I liked the book if I just read the Q & A portions - A MUST MUST READ. I have read Whitley Strieber's books before, and liked/appreciated. He is definitely a catalyst figure to make major daily life personal changes (along the lines of the great prophets - at a modern day & age). However he tends to philosophical complex analyze things on and on. I think this is helpful maybe for the doubters/skeptics, and especially for those overly educated corrupted. But for those of us highly spiritual that already believe/trust - and kind of have a gut feeling all this is true (also reading other past key books within this set of topics) - just read all the Q & A and everything will fall into place and make sense all on its own. I SHOULD NOTE HOWEVER that I only read all the Q & A - multiple times - and only maybe 20% of his additional comments (which is a large portion of the book). So THERE MAY BE STUFF IN THERE that is further good. But I’ve read many of his other books and listened to him in other media, and I kind of get overwhelmed with the analyzing. I will eventually read all his comments/explanations in this book, however. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, I didn’t want to delay in my review as the Q & A needs to be read by many as we are entering the next astrological cycle on 12/21/12…
