Overview

Since ancient times, the great demon prison Zzyzx has protected the world from the most dangerous servants of darkness, including Gorgrog, the Demon King. After centuries of plotting, the Sphinx is on the verge of recovering the five artifacts necessary to open the legendary prison. Facing the potential of a world-ending calamity, all friends of light must unite in a final effort to thwart the Sphinx s designs and find a safe home for the five artifacts. To this end, Kendra, Seth, and the Knights of the Dawn will venture far beyond the walls of Fablehaven to strange and exotic magical preserves across the globe, where the end of every quest becomes the beginning of another. In this explosive series finale, allegiances will be confirmed and secrets revealed as the forces of light and darkness collide in a desperate struggle to control the keys to the demon prison.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
The fifth and final book in the "Fablehaven" series is a rollercoaster ride of heroic, epic proportions. The sister and brother team of Kendra and Seth, fifteen and thirteen respectively, continue their adventures as they seek sacred, magical artifacts before they fall into the wrong hands. The Sphinx returns as the main antagonist with one goal in mind: to unlock the demon prison Zzyxx. The Knights of the Dawn, led by Kendra and Seth's grandfather Stan Sorenson, will battle against the evil forces of the Society of the Evening Star, lead by the Sphinx, in a war that will decide everyone's fate. What's so wonderful about this novel is that it has something to offer every reader: strong male and female characters, themes of good versus evil, thrills, romance, double crosses, fantastical magical creatures, and dangerous feats of strength and brains around every corner. Kendra and Seth are delightful as hero and heroine, learning from their mistakes with humor and dignity. Throughout the course of the novel each character grows and learns valuable lessons dealing with death, love, sacrifice, duty, and fulfilling one's destiny. At 604 pages the novel is a tad bit hefty and might have worked better as two separate books. Reviewer: Shawn Buckenmeyer

Fablehaven: Keys to the Demon Prison

Okay, this book was awesome. It was a perfect ending, to a perfect series. There are a bunch of cliffhanger chapter endings that leaves you waiting anxiously while reading another character's part (you'll know what i mean when you read it!)The returning characters in here are great the ones introduced are just fabulous! I love Bracken! He gets really close to the main characters, especially one in particular. . . but before he got close to that character, the character was really careful, for they knew what it was like to be betrayed. . . I strongly reccomend reading the previous books because it relates a lot to them. I really loved this book (i read it in two days!) and i hope that people will like it as much as i did!!! :)

    An Excellent Conclusion!

Fablehaven captured my imagination from the very beginning, and it continues to do so throughout the series. Mull did an excellent job at building my excitement for this final book, and I must say, I was not disappointed! If you liked the Percy Jackson series, or even Harry Potter, Fablehaven will satisfy your great-book cravings!

A Wonderful conclusion to a fantastically enjoyable series!

This book provided a great adventure along with a wonderful way to end a series...leaving it open to the readers imagination, but giving them a gentle nudge in the right direction. It was great to see Seth mature during the tale, and Kendra learned to trust again. Even their worst enemy gets a chance at redemption in an unexpected way.

"Keys to the Demon Prison" is intriguing

Fablehaven: Keys to the Demon Prison is for sure, one of the best books I have ever read. Many questions are answered, and many secrets are revealed; secrets that you have been wondering about since as early as the second book. This is not the sort of book that a reader can just slog through and read without paying any attention to- if you don't truly focus and absorb details, you will most certainly miss something important. It is as far from predictable as a book can get- the story is full of plot twists and betrayals that leave the reader reeling. I'm normally not the sort of reader who reacts to anything that happens in a book, or makes exclamations, but this book had me reacting like only one other book has made me react. I thoroughly enjoyed the finale to the Fablehaven series- it left me extremely satisfied, as it will leave everyone.

Another winner from Brandon Mull! I did not want to see this series end and hold out hope that there will be another series born from some of the other characters in this series.

From start to finish, I loved the book! I was glad to see that no matter how dark the situation there was always hope and good did triumph in the end. As a lover of fairy tales with a happy ending, this book made me feel so many different emotions. Sadness when a favorite character was killed. Happy when the two satyrs were part of the storyline in this book. I loved seeing the main characters changing and maturing yet never out-shining each other. I like the interaction of the Fairy Queen and her son and the way they were able to come up with a plan to use the demolished demon prison. A story that makes you feel as if you were there with the characters and you must find a way to save the world and reunite your family is a book worth buying and rereading!

The absolute best fablehaven and the best read ever

This book absolutely one of the greatest books I have ever read in my entire life. And I have read a lot of books. This book includes cunning action scenes, great losses, and fairytale romance. This book includes material for all readers and is one of the greatest book in the fablehaven series. I would recomend this book to any young reader or anyone with a desire for an awesome fantasy book. Congrats to Brandon Mull for the finish of a fantastic series. I only wish there was more to the series! Get reading!

    Great Books

My son loves the Fablehaven series, he couldn't wait to get this latest edition. He received a gift card for Christmas and he saved it for this book. He was so excited about it he made me get online and help him preorder it. He is 12 and loves reading, he reads his favorite books over and over and I can't count the times he has read these books. I think this series is great for any age. My mom stayed with us for a few weeks and my son had her read them and she enjoyed them aswell.

    Excellent ending, nostalgic for more

It is always hard when you reach the end of an excellent book or series. You become so wrapped up in their world, struggles, triumphs, humor, sadness, etc... that it is hard to want to see an end. I am typically one that likes to have a firm ending to stories so they don't go on and on and on and never really get any better. However, I will miss not reading more about the exploits of Seth or the revelations Kendra has as she grows older and closer to the fairy queen and family. I guess I'll just have to read them all over again in the near future to get my fill of it. The story line went quick in this one and was packed full of events, emotions and triumph. I'll look forward to his other works as they appear!

    this book is amazing

i don't know how anyone could not like this book. it is action-packed and amazing. a lot of books where they go from place to place with a ton of action and they are somewhere else in 20 pages are kind of choppy. this book is the same thing except it is not choppy at all. it goes from place to place with ease.at the end of each chapter is a cliffhanger that makes you want to read more.

    A+ Book

Fablehaven, Keys To The Demon Prison, written by Brandon Mull, was a very good book. I chose this book because it was the fifth book in a series that I reead the other 4 books in. I also read it because I am always looking for a good fantasy book and this is definitly one. The characters in this book were well developed, portrated, and described, such as Bracken, the recently imprisoned unicorn man, the two main characters, brother and sister, Seth and Kendra Sorenson, and many others. This book used, to great effect, many points of view, which kept the stry very interesting at all times. The scenery and area+time development is very good in this book. By this I mean that over time, the book shows the areas changing like it would over time in real life. An example is when they revisi t somewhere they have already been before, it shows the right amount of deteriation that would go with the time and weathering that would happen. My favorite character was Seth, one f the main characters. Seth got the powers of a Shadow Charmer by helping a demon out in a previous book. I like him because he is a real "go getter" and is always doing something interesting. Seth's sister is Kendra, the other main character in the book. Overall this was a very good book with an amazing plot, great ending, wonderful adventures, and epic battles. This book never gotboring and is a great read for everone and I recommend it to all.

Kendra and Seth come full circle

It's not often that a series stays true to it's self from start to finish, but Mull does an excellent job in this book. From showing Kendra as a girl who still deals with her fear of the unknown but who finally gets to see her unicorn, to Seth making mistake that brings disasterous results, but showing him unfaltering in his courage, this book is a perfect conclusion to an amazing story about these two siblings and their magical world.

    Loved this the most!

I read all of the previous Fablehaven books with my children and found them to be entertaining. My daughter is almost obsessed with them and has a Fablehaven sign on her door and counts down to the next book. So, I was excited to read this final installment. I had to wait until my two oldest children finished and then until I had time to sit and read. I was anxious to start because my kids said this was their favorite. It was AWESOME! So exciting and so much action and surprises. I loved all of the morals woven into the story. It was funny and entertaining and I did not want to put it down. My only criticism is that it could have been continued with the way that it ended. Kudos to Brandon Mull on an excellent book and end to a series!

Another exciting addition to the Fablehaven series.

I am a 48 year old woman. My 22 year old daughter, 14 year old son and I all loved this book. The whole Fablehaven series had kept us on our seats and this was no exception. It was a very satisfying end to a creative story. All our questions were answered and loose ends tied up.

We have loved seeing the characters grow, make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. It is a true testament to the ability to rise above who you think you are, and become a better person.

The final battle was amazing, and the final solution caught me off guard. I was guessing through the whole story.

    Better than Harry Potter

A friend at work gave me the first book in this series about two years ago. I read it in no time and had to go find the second. I drove an hour one way to get to a bookstore that carried the third. I bought the fourth the day it came out. It has been a long wait for the fifth and final but it has been worth it. This is a great read for adults and kids alike. I read the entire Harry Potter series and though it is a fantastic series too, Keys to the Demon Prison is a much more satisfying ending. All necessary loose ends are tied up but not in a predictable way yet the characters still have their lives ahead of them. Brandon Mull leaves enough open for readers to use their imaginations to continue the characters lives. I look forward to Mr. Mull's further writing adventures.

    I Also Recommend:

    The most intricate Fablehaven yet

As usual, this Fablehaven is excellent, but its extremely complex. It is so complex, that people who want to read it just because they picked it up for the first time and liked the cover, should go to book one and start over. Its somewhat exhausting to read it because new things are introduced that add new twists to the story so fast. Slow down with this book a bit. Like any thriller, there are unexpected betrayals, accidents, and other hair raising corners. Again, like a good book, complex as it is, everything falls together like a jigsaw puzzle putting itself together of its own volition. With magical swords, seers, shadow charmers, the peoples of the Fairy Queen, Brandon Muhl draws us deeper into his deep, sublime world of magic.
