The cool Kidz Bop Kids know a hit when they hear it. These collections of youthful renditions of radio hits have become must-have items for the middle-grade set, and Volume 4 does not disappoint. The disc opens with a version of pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne's "Sk8ter Boi," on which the enthusiastic singers really capture spunky Avril's energy. They just as easily inspire some sassy dance moves with J-Lo's "Jenny from the Block," but it's not all pop, all the time. No Doubt's ska-inspired "Underneath It All" carries a slower beat and sweetly sentimental lyrics, sure to make 12-year-old girls swoon. Things get rockin' on 3 Doors Down's bittersweet "When I'm Gone," which is particularly loyal to the original, and Evanescence's goth-flavored Daredevil hit, "Bring Me to Life." Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" and "The Middle" from Jimmy Eat World are logical choices here, providing self-esteem-boosting anthems for young listeners. But the standout track is undeniably Shania Twain's "I'm Gonna Getcha Good." This upbeat song translates perfectly to a youthful setting, with catchy lyrics, snappy vocals, and just the right country-pop twang. This lively disc will be spinning at all the coolest slumber parties and dances as far as the 'tween eye can see.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Like a Now That's What I Call Music! series for the preschool set, Kidz Bop, Vol. 4 presents more dubiously kid-friendly remakes of au courant pop songs, most of which feature a group of kids singing along with the choruses. As with the previous volumes, whether or not having kids literally sing along with songs like Evanescence's dark "Bring Me to Life," 3 Doors Down's morbid "When I'm Gone," or Justin Timberlake's vindictive "Cry Me a River" makes them into singalongs appropriate for kids is arguable, but a few of the songs do work pretty well. The remake of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" is a fairly good re-creation of the song and is also bouncy and innocent enough to work as kids' music. Likewise, "The Anthem" has enough punky energy to appeal to kids, and "Underneath It All" is sweet enough to sing along to (questionable lyrics like "you know some real bad tricks and you need some discipline" aside).

this CD is, um, nice, but they should think about some songs of their own. The kids singing was an, interesting idea. But they didn't do the best of jobs. this CD kinda makes ya wanna squirm in your seat and go,"Ahem..." alot. it makes me think of a kid made version of Now.

The only reason I have this 'KidzBop' junk is because my little sister buys it. It may have all the 'hit' songs, but why buy them when little kids sing them and ruin the pitch, beat, and pretty much all else? I'd rather try to find the mp3s or buy the actual CDs.

I don't understand why people think that changing the singers of these songs is going to change the message of these songs. I mean, what's the point? These kids might as well listen to the original song and singer, it's not got to change a thing. Changing the singers into little whiny kids is not going to make the songs any better for the little whiny kids who listen to them.

Man o man o man.... Can you believe there's a fourth one?? I hate this 'Kidz Bop' industry, I mean, come on! They could've at least gotten some good singers. But nope, little munchkins that sing about as well as William Shatner *sorry if I spelt his name wrong but you get the point!*. Three of the biggest tragedies is 'Bring me to life' by Evanescene (awesome band deserves better then that!!), 'The ketchup song' (they ruined enough American songs there's no need to ruin other countries' songs too) and 'Game of love' by Satanna and Michelle Branch (Two wonderful artists, wonderful song too, so why'd they have to go and ruin it????) Sigh. When will they learn? When will they all learn?

This cd ruins everything about the original song. The kids can't sing, and they shouldn't go ruining perfectly good music. Their voices are nothing like the original singers' and this cd is basically getting second graders to sing songs and selling it. I mean who wants kids singing when you could get the original person.

i luv the song the anthem by good charlotte but when little kids sing it i feel like ripping my ears off. it just ruins the entire song and these cds should not be made anymore. the songs sound horrible when the little kids sing them.

I really hate stuff that people do to try and make a few extra dollars. But how low can you really sink? Did you go to some stupid little elementary school, pick out a few kids who haven't gone through puberty and decide to make them sing songs. I think this should be considered a crime! You give all the artists that the kids copy a VERY bad reputation. I'm going to have nightmares for the longest time because of this..

I can't believe they made a fourth one. Especially one with EVANESCANCE and GOOD CHAELOTTE on it!!! Are they crazy?!?

Once again, kidz bop wreaks havoc on the music world. Why don't y'all just buy the original songs by the original artists? The people on this album are about as clueless as anyone who spends their money on this.Kidz bop totally sucks!!!!!

I can't believe they acually made so many of these. The only thing I use them for is to go online and get the names of songs that I like. All I can say is these poor children that got sucked into this junk!!!

I wish I could give this basicly NO stars..this is HORRIBLE! What a disgrace to some of the bands on this CD who are ACTUALLY VERY talented. It makes any punk-rock or pop- punk band like Good Charlotte, and Jimmy eat world look like chumps who sold out! Stop this madness.. :'( Good Charlotte songs are NOT to be sung by snotty little pre- teens! GC FOREVER DOWN WITH KIDZ BOP! Do you feel the same way? e-mail me or add me to msn then we can bitc...i mean "talk" about this..

I think that this is the worst remake of songs I have ever heard, they should of just leftn them alone. If you buy this CD you r a total loser and are not a fan of any of these bands, this CD makes them look like total idiots. As said earlier if u like the songs BUY the Bands CD.

This CD is horrible! They've ruined all the great songs, like The Anthem and I'd Do Anything. I've always wondered how the original artists feel about some little kids ruining their songs. This all other Kidz Bop CDs are a waste of your time and money!

OMG! This made me laugh so hard. At first I thought this was some sad lame joke. Honestly. It's like listening to your little siblings singing Britney spears all over again. Who's cruel idea was this tos uck innocent little children in the making of this horrible CD?!?!?! -Samantha

stop making re-makes of OUR favourite songs, these people suck, and we only want to hear originals done by these people, it's not cute, and it's BAD AS ALL HELL

kidz bop is the stupidst and most awful thing ( besides Avril lavigne) that i have ever heard!!! those stupid little munchkins destroy really great songs from really great bands i.e GC, evanecence, simple plan. if you buy this garbage you're an idiot..seriously. and another thing..avril doesnt deserve to be on a cd with gc..they're sooo much better than her..hope she dies soon..real soon..hahahahahahahah!!! sorry..i know im weird

This is an awful CD!These annoying voices of little kids ruin some awesome pop songs. "Intuition" by Jewel is a great song but on this CD it's pathetic! I don't get why there are so many kidz bops. If you like pop, buy the CD with the real band singing.

I love Kelly Clarkson. She has a great voice. KIDS BOP RUINED IT, ALONG WITH I'M GONNA GET YOU GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a great song and darn Kidz Bop for ruining it! Everyone who is in Kids Bop is just a wanna be of the orginal artist. They act so incredibly stupid on the commercials. Kids Bop reeks. Don't waste your money on this terrible junk-buy the orginal instead. They are actully famed and well liked! They ruin well liked and fun songs with they're horrible, pre-mature, squeaky, fake voices. I don't recommend this to anyone.
