Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

Terrall, best known for his Mike Shayne detective novels, also had a series featuring New York PI Ben Gates. In this 1960 novel, considered among the best of the Gates adventures, the sleuth takes a quickie job guarding the gifts at a very posh wedding, but someone slips him a mickey and attempts to steal the loot, leaving two people dead. To save his soiled reputation, Gates has to find out who is responsible.
