CLEVERLY REVEALING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER…

“An edgy page-turner that pulls the reader into a world where image is everything and murder is all about image. Great start to a new series!” – Erika Chase, Author of The Ashton Corners Book Club Mysteries

As Philadelphia’s premier image consultant, Allison Campbell helps others reinvent themselves, but her most successful transformation was her own after a scandal nearly ruined her. Now she moves in a world of powerful executives, wealthy, eccentric ex-wives and twisted ethics.

When Allison’s latest Main Line client, the fifteen-year-old Goth daughter of a White House hopeful, is accused of the ritualistic murder of a local divorce attorney, Allison fights to prove her client’s innocence when no one else will. But unraveling the truth brings specters from her own past. And in a place where image is everything, the ability to distinguish what’s real from the facade may be the only thing that keeps Allison alive.

This book is totally "my cup of tea". This book is well-written, engrossing and fast paced. I found myself drawn in to the characters and their complexity and how beneath their "images" they were not exactly what you saw upon first look, including the heroine, Allison Campbell herself!

Killer Image is the first in what I hope will be a long series of Allison Campbell mysteries! Not only does the mystery keep you guessing until the end, but the character development  creates a great introduction to Allison and her team. I definitely recommend this to readers who are tired of the commercial, mundane storylines out there.

    more from this reviewer

    Highly recommended Mystery for all

Our library book group leader chose KILLER IMAGE by Wendy Tyson for our December book discussion. I was so excited as we know Wendy and her family since she was a little girl and was eager to read this book. Our entire family is reading this book. Our daughter finished it first and loved it. I finished it last month (I couldn't put it down and took it with me everywhere I went) and loved it. The main character is Allison Campbell, a Philadelphia Image Consultant who helps her clients to reinvent themselves. One of her clients turns out to be a very prominent Congressman's 15 year old daughter Maggie, whose behavior is oppositional, and into Wicca (goth and witches). When Maggie is accused of a double murder, Allison gets involved and endangers herself to prove the truth and Maggie's innocence when all evidence points to Maggie as the killer. You must read this book. All the characters come together along the way so don't get bogged down by saying that there are too many characters. I can't wait to tell Wendy at our book group meeting how much I enjoyed this book and am awaiting the next one of the series. Edythe Newman & family

This book grabbed my attention on the first page and kept me captivated through the end. The story is intriguing and the characters are very real...vulnerable, likeable and humanly flawed. I anxiously await Ms. Tyson's next release.

Killer Image is about Allison Campbell, an image consultant. I find that to be a fascinating profession. I think I could use one.

This is not a cozy mystery. It's grittier than that. Allison Campbell gets involved with a murder investigation when her former mother-in-law's divorce attorney is killed. That seems a long way around to get involved but the divorce attorney has also represented a number of Allison's clients and she had worked with his ex-wife. There are a lot of overlapping relationships. I'm finding it hard to describe the plot for some reason but it wasn't because I didn't enjoy the book. I really did. I will put out the warning that there is quite a lot of discussion of Wicca. I know there are people that will want to know that before reading.

I liked the secondary characters as much as I liked Allison. Her employee, Vaughn, and his brother were two of my favorite. All of what will probably make up the regular cast of characters in this series were likeable. The bad guys were definitely dislikeable. There was a too much amateur investigating without bringing the police in on their suspicions which is why it is 4 stars instead of 5. It had good atmosphere and I'll be anxious to see where these characters go next.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

    Horrible

I NEVER quit before I finish a book; I made an exception for this convoluted mess. Too many tortured sterotypical characters. Too many trite plot lines.
