Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.

Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don't go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.

While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.

As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor's brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.

This has to be, without a doubt, the best book I have read this year, and then some! Talk about hanging on every word. I literally was sucked in from the very first word and could not devour this book fast enough. I feverishly turned every page of my kindle, hoping the story was not going to end, but desperately wanting to find out more and more, knowing full well that the characters in this magnificent book have become a part of me and it was going to be hard to finish.  I am utterly speechless and in awe of the rawness of the story. It's tension filled, action-packed, edgy and gritty, but also full of such purity and fragility that makes this book utterly unique and beautifully crafted. J.A. Redmerski is a freaking LEGEND! She has brilliantly made me hang on every word and making me feel like I was watching a movie being played out right in front of me. I could literally reach out and touch the blood, smell the sweat and taste the hardness of his skin. I encountered the scenes vividly and am enamoured by the honesty that is there for the reading. Jess has laid her heart and soul out on those pages, and it's really hard not to notice.  Jess has breathed life into this story about a young woman, Sarai, who has been thrust into a life that would devastate and break our will. Sarai would stop at nothing to escape such a life and begin to take back her humanity and her need to live. From the moment we meet Sarai on that very first page, you instantly connect with her and her plea. You want her to run and succeed, and you want to fight for her more than ever. And Sarai, does not want your pity, though. She wants you to know that she is full of such strength and resolve, that she will continue to fight till she takes her last breath. I absolutely believed Sarai and believe in her. She may have been devastated and broken beyond despair, but she has the power to change all that and boy did she ever. She may have been a damaged victim on paper, and she was, but she did not show it. Not to anyone, or so you make think. Please welcome to the room, Victor, the cold-blooded Assassin. Now, you may want to leave the room upon hearing that yes, he is a vile creature who is hired to kill people for an organisation, The Order. But, don't be so haste to leave because you do not want to miss out on this beautiful specimen. Someone dose me with a bucket of ice right now...WHOA Where can I get me one of those?  Victor is primal, intense, completely closed off and so focused and determined. He has a plan, and Sarai doesn't fit anywhere in it. He is utterly meticulous and is one step ahead at all times. He is the ultimate killer. Brash, bald, confident, precise and diligent. He rules with his head and has a purpose. Unlike Sarai, who runs on emotion and rules with her conscious, and knows how to tear down those rigid walls that are built around Victor. She is somewhat willingly able to get under his skin and for that reason alone, Victor cannot risk her being anywhere near him, but yet, cannot bare to leave her to the wayside like he would of anyone else. Not even for Niklas, his liaison and confident.  Their unique relationship slowly unfolds throughout the book at just the right pace, and with such subtlety. It was immensely personal to read and it was definitely a wonderful thing to discover. Especially how they began to see themselves in each other and trying to not label what they had as anything else but what it was. It wasn't love, or necessity, or a lust or need, but the simplest of things. It was blatantly real and truthful. Two people, thrust together under the worst circumstances and finding the humanity in one another. Intoxicating, seductive, poetic, and imperfect. The human condition is a wonderful thing.  What else can I say except for the fact, that I am utterly enamoured with everything and anything that J.A. Redmerski writes and I truly believe that she just keeps finding her voice through the brilliant stories she weaves. I thank you so very much for providing me with an ARC and I just can't wait for the next instalment of this amazing series. I recommend this to all of you who loves to take a chance on those darker subject matters and who will stop at nothing to feel like you are living on the edge of a cliff, because taking a chance and hanging there with this book is the greatest place to be. KILLING SARAI is a MUST READ!

As if Redmerski has not yet done enough with her previous works to demonstrate her skill and storytelling ability, Killing Sarai takes us in an entirely new and fresh direction. While themes of potential romance and sexual mystique run throughout, ever tense and ever building, the settings and action take a dramatic turn in this new world. In Sarai, we have a young woman who has lived through extraordinary circumstances, doing what it takes to survive in a global environment culled from news stories not far removed from our own. In Victor, we have a smooth and calculating operator, a paid killer playing a high stakes game on an international stage. Apart, they face ever-constant danger, but together, their dangers are ensured. This was a rather quick read; not for simplicity's sake, but for the need to always read just one more chapter. The players in this landscape are well-drawn and the dialogue is always crisp. While only being on the scene for a relatively short time in literary years, Redmerski has proven that earlier successes certainly were no fluke and deftly earned. This is a recommended read and I look forward to where this story may go in the future.

I devoured this book. This is not the type of book I usually read, but I read everything that Redmerski writes. I can't wait for the next one in the series!!! Wouldn't recommend to younger readers due to content, but for mature readers, it is a must read!!

This was wonderful. But I hate that there was no conclusion and we have to wait for a second book!  I read SO much that I can't remember the first one by the time the second rolls out.

I love this book!  What an amazing story about an incredible woman.  I can't wait for the next book.  J.A. Redmerski has become one of my favorite authors.  Her stories have captured my attention and are beautifully written.

JA Redmerski is by far my favorite author right now!  The Edge of Never is one of my favorite books of all time and I think I loved Killing Sarai just as much (a feat I didn't think was possible).  What I love about her writing is that you can really identify with the characters...they become so real.  I find myself reading her books as if I'm a fly on the wall in the midst of all the action.  Beautiful writing, heart-wrenchingly deep characters, and enough action that you can't put the book down.  Without a doubt, the best book I've read this year!

This book was absolutely fantastic. FAN-TAST-IC. When i read the exerpt, it sounded very intriguing to me, since it didn't sound like any of the books i had read. I read The Edge of Never by this same author recently and decided to take the plunge and buy this book. It did not disappoint me! Sarai was such a strong female role who had her faults and scars from all of her years in captivity by a mexican drug lord. But it was the fact that she had the guts and determination to escape the place that really made her a great character. She contined to show her strength throughout the many life-threatening obstacles in the book. Victor has become one of my favorite male roles in any book i have read. It wasn't because he was overly mushy or sentimental like lots of guys in books(Even though there isn't anything wrong with that... ;). It was because he wasn't like that at all. He was a ruthless killer, sure, but he was doing this for the sake of everyone who was good. He had morals and opinions and he provided Sarai with safety in the whole book. What i really loved was how Sarai was able to transform this unemotional, disconnected man into someone who could feel, and someone who could feel for her at that! I also loved how in the the majority of the book they were together and he wouldn't leave her once he got to know her. His insight and maturity made him a really unique character. One thing that i also enjoyed was the ending that left room for more. LOTS more. It wasn't really a cliffhanger, though. You were left satisfied but EXTREMELY eager for more! It was by no means the typical "i've-found-my-soul-mate-my-life-is-now-complete-hooray!" ending. But it also wasn't the "i've -lost-the-love-of-my-life-but-i-can-move-on" ending. It was realistic. It had hope because you KNOW there was more coming and you had a good idea as to what it was. And for that, i was happy with the ending. Killing Sarai was a raw, realistic, action and romance packed novel with characters learning to finally become themselves with the help of those who become embedded in their lives' and hearts forever. This was one of best, if not THE BEST, books of 2013!

I loved The Edge of Never and I thought, when seeing that this book was coming out, that nothing could top that work but boy was I wrong! Killing Sarai is raw, original, heartbreaking, beautiful and intense. The sex was hot but not overly done and the way Victor and Sarai's relationship unfolded was beautiful and realistic. I highly recommend this book and I can not wait until Reviving Izabel!!!

Could not put it down. After reading The Edge of Never I was so excited to get this book. She does not disappoint. I recommend this book as well as The Edge of Never.  You will not be sorry.

Fantastic read with the most unusual and flawed characters, yet a terrific tale of love and redemption when you have been deprived of a past of emotions. I waited to read this book for almost a year until the sequel (Reviving Izabel) came out, and I am delighted I did so. You really need to read the two back to back to fully understand the characters and see where fate (and love) takes them. Cannot recommend the series enough.

This is one of the best books ever! I could not put it down once I started. Please read this book because it is great! I can't wait for the sequel to come out. I have read two other books by this author and they were also very good. I will be reading every book she writes. I just love it when I find a new author who has so much talent! I read all the time, it is my passion and her books rate the highest points for me. PLEASE keep them coming. Thank you for the entertainment your books have brought me!

What would you do to escape this hell? To escape this hell you must do what you can in order to survive. Even if it means jeopardizing your friend's life and your very OWN. When Sarai, gets an opportunity to escape this camp of hell she takes it upon herself to seek the freedom she has dreamed about. Meet the beautiful, but damaged girl Sarai. When she comes across the dangerously handsome assassin Victor she decides to take the opportunity to seek his guidance in escaping. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another. “There is a stark difference between fear and uncertainty, Sarai. You fear nothing but are uncertain of everything.” What ends up transpiring is a whirlwind of violence, death, and manipulation. This story is not your typical love story with fluffy dialogue and heart whelming scenes. Killing Sarai, is uniquely original with its unpredictable story-line and action packed characters

"A broken girl...a cold man...and a bond formed by violence." Even though book snobs around the world would be able to provide ample criticism, I can't help but be addicted to this story. I couldn't stop reading this book! Killing Sarai is a bold, fast-paced story. The characters are forever scarred; their own childhoods molding them into emotionally numb individuals who no longer respond appropriately to trauma and danger. The characters are written as such that the reader has no shame in rooting for "the bad guy". This was definitely a guilty pleasure for me and I will read every book that is written in this series.

Killing Sarai, is this super intense, thrilling, read. I’m a fan of Redmerski and have read a few of her books. It was really mind-blowing.  Sarai has been held captive for most of her life. In the company of a man that is in a sense brutal, holds this power that controls her every move. But as luck would have it, she decided on impulse to escape. She didn’t know if she would live or die but hoped Victor would help her. But Victor isn’t just some normal American. He’s part of an Order, where he’s the killer.  The narration, had put me off a bit. Probably because I had just got done listening to the same narrator for the last couple books. They ended up really growing on me. Kate really had that innocence in her, that was necessary to portray Sarai. Sarai still had an innocence about her, even though she had been used for years. Almost as if she was Javier’s sex slave.  This was really different, from the normal genre I usually read. But it was really done fantastic and there hasn’t been  a book Redmerski has written, that I haven’t loved or enjoyed.  Overall, I give this Five (4.5) Boundless Stars
