All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The soundtrack to Kim Possible, Disney/ABC's popular cartoon about a teenage girl who's also a secret agent, features the usual Disney mix of up-and-coming teen pop starlets and a few kid-friendly modern rock tracks. Highlights include Christina Milan's bouncy "Call Me, Beep Me! The Kim Possible Song," LMNT's "It's Just You," and Angela Michael's "I'm Ready." Michael duets with Aaron Carter on "Get Up on Ya Feet," a musical sugar buzz that will probably be popular with kids but less so with adults. Likewise, Jump5's cover of Kool & the Gang's "Celebration" might also make parents cringe, but for the most part, the album isn't too cloying or annoying for adult ears. ...

Brassy's "Work It Out," the Cooler Kids' "E Is for Everybody," and Smash Mouth's "Come On Come On" add a slightly more grown-up and hip edge to the album, while "The Naked Mole Rap" -- a song about Rufus the mole, the hairless pet of Kim Possible's sidekick, Ron Stoppable -- plays to the show's hardcore fans. Overall, Kim Possible doesn't quite capture the fun of the series, but it's still a better than average children's soundtrack.

    Nikki Cleary Stands Out!

One title that I missed seeing in the editors' review of the Kimpossible CD was Nikki Cleary's 'Summertime Guys.' Personally, I feel this is the standout track on this album! It was even written by Nikki herself! Some of you may know Nikki from her other singles, '1,2,3' and 'You're the One I Want' (featuring Dream Street's Chris Trousdale), but I think that this is the very best of her songs! I would definitely recommend this soundtrack just on the basis of Nikki's song. In fact, you might just want to buy Nikki's entire CD (the self titled debut Nikki Cleary *Jive Records*) and hear the track on that. I think that buying the Nikki CD would be a smarter move than just purchasing the Kimpossible CD, because I don't think that it is as good as Nikki's! However, if you want to get a taste of several different artists, I would purchase the KP CD. If you want more information on Nikki, check out her website -- www.nikkicleary.com!
