Overview

Will the curse of Sadako leave her friendless for life? R to L (Japanese Style). Sadako's chance to become friends with Yano and Yoshida is about to go down the drain when rumors start flying that Yano's been around the block and Yoshida's a former gang member. And the source of all this tattle? Sadako herself! Will Sadako retreat to her former life as a loner because of a simple misunderstanding?! Sawako Kuronuma is the perfect heroine…for a horror movie. With her jet-black hair, sinister smile and silent demeanor, she’s often mistaken for Sadako, the haunting movie character. Unbeknownst to but a few, behind her scary façade is a very misunderstood teenager. Shy and pure of heart, she just wants to make friends. But when Kazehaya, the most popular boy in class, befriends her, she’s sure to make more than just that—she’s about to make some enemies too!

Kimi ni Todoke is a school manga about love and friendships... with a twist. Imagine a heroine whose horror-movie looks can scare even her friends! Yet despite her appearance, Sawako "Sadako" Kuronuma is an adorable character with an innocent, generous heart. Her longing for a friend is answered when the popular guy in class befriends her--which encourages some classmates to follow suit and motivates others to jealous sabotage. Through the course of the story, new friends try to help this shy girl gain self-confidence and show others in the class the admirable personality hidden behind her ghost-like face. Beautiful artwork and well-defined characters combine to create this unique, amusing, and touching series.

I wrote a glowing review for the first volume and everything I said applies to this one as well. As soon as I can, I'm purchasing volume 3.

While Sawako begins talking more with her classmates and slowly starting to smile more, there's rumors going around about two of her classmates. And someone says Sawako's responsible. And Sawako begins avoiding them and Kazehaya. Will she clear the misunderstanding? Another good read in the series.
