A perfect firestorm of desire could save their people...or cost them their lives.

Kindred Chronicles, Book 1

Serenity's soul-reading ability lets her easily create custom tattoos. Everything else in her life is a struggle, from trying to make it work with her best friend, Evan, to nightmares and visions that make her question her sanity.

Then she meets a man who sharpens her craving for something more, but her commitment to Evan means nothing beyond sparks can exist between them.

Cyrus has been watching Serenity, preparing to claim her as his Blessed mate-the other half of a split soul that, once reunited, is his only chance to break the curse that plagues his people.

One moment, Serenity is confronted by armed militants firing questions she cannot answer. The next, she is safe in Cyrus's arms, reveling in his burning kiss...and learning she isn't even human. She is Kindred, blessed with preternatural powers, cursed to suffer the twin horrors of the blood rage and the dark veil.

Their union is the greatest hope for redemption in a thousand years, but not all Kindred want to be saved. A dark secret could snuff out their lives before love has a chance to unite them...and redeem the Kindred for all time.

Warning: Contains a headstrong, soul-reading tattoo artist, a sexy alpha hero who knows how to get what he wants, adrenaline-packed action, and explosive sex that literally shatters bulletproof glass.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Kindred of the Fallen provides readers with the mythology and groundwork for a compelling new series, and the relationship between Serenity and Cyrus keeps the romance in this fantasy.”
—Library Journal

“This book took me on a whirlwind of emotions and didn’t let up till the end. Rushdan is a brilliant author and what better way to start off than with this book that is a completely original story.”
—Gravetells Reviews and News on Kindred of the Fallen

Library Journal
Serenity’s ability to sketch a person’s true soul has helped her to save a failing tattoo parlor. Between the demand for her work and the rise of her fiancé at his law firm, Serenity is finally feeling safe from the troubling visions that plagued her childhood. Cyrus has been searching for his Blessed mate for years. Their union will break the curse on the Kindred, an ancient race hiding among humans. When strange men with earpieces interrogate Serenity the night after she meets Cyrus, she finds herself thrust into a journey of discovering her true nature. This hefty paranormal romance takes the reader from posh parties in Manhattan to bloody battles in dark warehouses with a stop here and there at bedrooms of palatial estates. At points, the book’s pacing slows for lengthy exposition on the history and mythology of the characters. The mix of demons, angels, and Middle Eastern lore is a welcome break from the European mythology that has become de rigueur in this genre.

Verdict At 470 pages, this title provides readers with the mythology and groundwork for a compelling new series, and the relationship between Serenity and Cyrus keeps the romance in this fantasy.—John Rodzvilla, Emerson Coll., Boston(c) Copyright 2013. This book artfully blends the worlds of human and Kindred so well that humans are totally unaware of the Kindred. Kindred are something akin to fallen angels in concept - descendants of powerful beings who became to greedy for even more power. Their creator punished them and the yet the cycle repeated itself. The Kindred were created - each containing half a soul from the punished, with the only way to end the curse by reuniting with the other half of their original soul.

Ms. Rushdan did a nice job of combining the paranormal and the normal into a blended world filled with fascinating characters. It was enjoyable to tag along on the ride with Serenity and Cyrus, and what a ride it is. The book is packed with action and raw, steamy passion that once it got rolling snowballed into an uncontrollable avalanche. Hopefully there will be a sequel or more to allow us to keep traveling further down the rabbit hole with Serenity, Cyrus, and the rest of the gang.

I really, really, really liked this book. It is the beginning of an awesome new paranormal series about a different type of paranormal being called kindred. They are human mostly, or rather they are humanish in appearance until they have to take care of business then they have the appearance of a colorful angel complete with wings. They are not angels, trust me! Each kindred has different special abilities and you do not want to get on their bad side.

The kindred are divided into houses that have different beliefs. I'm not going into more, it is really interesting and well thought out, but a little on the complex side to explain. Don't worry, you'll have no trouble understanding it if you read the book!

I was hooked from the first chapter and stayed hooked until the very end. The plot has action, romance, secrets, ulterior motives, mystery, and a whole lot more! If you like paranormal romances, you should definitely put this one on your TBR list.

I went through every emotion. I was happy, sad, angry, confused, afraid, bewildered. I even had some of those Oh no he didn't moments!

The characters were great and I am very intrigued to find out more about all of them. My favorite was Cassien. I loved his personality.

I am soooo eager to read the next book in this series. I have many questions that I am looking forward to finding the answers to.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I honestly loved it!
