Overview

The purpose of this Bible for the Nook Simple Touch is twofold:
1) Design a Searchable Bible with Navigation features that utilize all the functions of the Nook Touch.
2) Preserve the comfortable reading format that most traditional Bibles use.

NAVIGATION

TOC
The Table of Contents consists of four main features:
1) Increased spacing between chapter numbers.
2) Wider line spacing.
3) Additional markers to jump within the Table of Contents.
4) A checkerboard or staggered layout.
This layout is not as aesthetic as a linear TOC, but it is very functional.

TOC JUMPS
The toc is fairly long because of the wide spacing and staggering, for this reason 5 markers have been added for tap jumps.
The 5 tap jumps are:
Old Testament - Chronicles - Prophetic Books - New Testament - Ts
Ts is about half way through the New Testament and begins at the 5Ts; 1&2Th, 1&2Ti, and Titus.

TOC LINKS
At the beginning of every chapter, there is a link to the Table of Contents.

QUICKSEARCH - KEYBOARD SEARCH
A marker added to the beginning of the chapter to quickly navigate to a desired location in the Bible. Every chapter has a marker that identifies the book and chapter. Navigate to Genesis Chapter 1 by simply typing gen1 or ge1 then enter. An example of the chapter header is shown below.

CHAPTER 1 Gen1 Ge1 toc
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

MULTIPLE ABBREVIATIONS = NO MEMORIZATION
QuickSearch uses multiple abbreviations to eliminate the need for memorizing a reference system. For example, the book of Judges can be located by typing Judg, or Jdg, or Jg. Judges 7 is shown below.

CHAPTER 7 Judg7 Jdg7 Jg7 toc
1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon…..

VERSE SEARCH
Finding a specific verse is also very simple. Navigate to Ruth 1:16 by typing ru1, enter, and page down once or twice to arrive at verse 16.

CHAPTER JUMP
Open the Contents window and it will show the current chapter and surrounding chapters. Select a chapter, or page up or down to find other nearby chapters.

As someone who both reads and refers to the Bible on a daily basis, I have long had to switch back and forth between those formats most useful to me in order to accomplish whatever I need at the time. And I have to admit that this isn't the first King James Bible I've purchased in an electronic format... but I can promise you it will be my last! The ability to navigate from one passage to another has been astounding. When I want to go to a specific verse or chapter, all I have to do is enter a few characters and it brings me to the exact spot I was looking for. I especially love using it with my church companions and my Bible study group, as we can easily search for whatever it is we're currently discussing. The content is so easy to read, and the navigation is smooth, immediate, and highly succinct. Even the Table of Contents is designed to let me navigate right where I want to go, and I can quickly navigate back to it from various points in the text.

I have found my new go-to Bible format, and I couldn't be happier. Very highly recommended!

Has Improved Greatly But Still Needs Improvement

This particular e-reader Bible is a vast improvement over all the previous efforts. The ability to navigate to a particular verse has always been the biggest issue until now. I like the fact that I don't have to jump through several hoops just to get to a specific passage. This almost good enough to use in place of a print Bible during a worship service. The KJV Touch Bible's navigation is still not quite as good as the Olive Tree Bible Reader for the various smart phones and tablets. If the developer of the Touch Bible can get their Bible to be as easy to use as Olive Tree then they will have hit a home-run out of the park. That little issue is not a deal breaker at all. This will definitely be my "go to" for my quiet time reading
