Overview

With vaudeville in its death throes, actress Ann Darrow finds herself out of a job in Depression-era New York. But her luck changes when she meets Carl Denham -- entrepreneur, raconteur, adventurer, and filmmaker -- a man struggling to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Bold, ebullient, and charismatic, Denham leads Ann, along with famed playwright Jack Driscoll and the crew of the tramp steamer Venture, on a faraway filmmaking expedition, to the Indian Ocean and the legendary, primordial jungles of Skull Island. It is here that Denham hopes to capture on film the waning undiscovered wonders of the world -- wonders available to anyone for the price of admission.

What they all find instead are living nightmares and deadly perils in a hostile place that time forgot...where a director is willing to risk everything for the sake of his film...where a writer will test his physical courage and his heart...and where a beautiful actress will forge an unshakable bond with the most fantastic creature ever to walk the earth....

Most movie books drag on and on with horrible writing and you find yourself putting the book down about half way through. But, I found myself well into 'King Kong' on the first day. Golden keeps the characters true to heart. The actions pretty nifty. Kind of frustrated that only a quarter and a half of the book is on the island. That, and Golden decided to cut out my favorite scene(the V-Rex fight). Overall it definitely has flaws but if you wan't a in between book that is fun with it's imaginative prose than you'll probably like it.

I always enjoy reading a good King Kong story. And this is a good one but the star doesn't make an appearance until 200 pages into the book. I actually enjoyed Kong Reborn better.

I went to barnes and noble and saw a few books about king kong. I decided to get this one. I read it and loved it. I saw thw movie later. It was almost exactly like it. A few lines were taken out though. This is a must for any king kong fan.

Decided to pick up this book to see how the screenplay compares to the actual movie (which I've seen 7x and counting!!) The book gives all the behind the scenes feelings of the characters, things being filled in about each person which to me explained alot more about the characters in the movie. Most of the actual dialogue is exactly the same in the movie, but some lines were excluded. This is the perfect item for any KK fan who has nothing to do but patiently wait for KK to come out on DVD!
