"King of Glory" by P.D. Bramsen, and illustrated by Arminda San Martin is an easy to read retelling of some of the most important Biblical stories. Each story is one page long, with the following page having a beautiful illustration of that story. This book includes the story of Adam and Eve, The Garden of Eden, Cain and Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses, The Ten Commandments, and Jesus' birth and missionary work. This book would be ideal for older children, from ages 7 and up. The stories are easy to read, with simple language, perfect for this age group, who can start to understand the stories of the Bible, but aren't quite able to understand a more advanced Bible yet. I thought this was the perfect book, and the illustrations are beautiful, vivid, and relevant to the message. I would highly recommend this book to any parent or grandparent who has a child between the ages of 7 and 12. Wonderfully written!

I received a courtesy copy of King of Glory in return for my writing an honest review for BookCrash. What a pleasure to read and review this book!

On the face of it, King of Glory is a simple overview of the Bible, beautifully illustrated. I work with special needs students and English Language Learners, and a simplified Bible summary is valuable. I've seen, and written, some fairly good ones. None comes close to King of Glory, however. Rather than merely condensing and using easy language, the author has distilled out the solid and necessary concepts in a clear and productive manner.

Reading a condensation or abridgement of a book one knows well is generally painful—how could he leave that out? why didn't he try it this way? what was he thinking ... King of Glory, on the contrary, is fascinating to read. The point of the message is clear and supported by facts and names. The reader comes away grasping God's message in its fullness. With one exception, the illustrations are superb. The concern is stylistic—other than cherubim, angels in the Bible generally look like men; they are never described as having wings and, as a matter of course, wouldn't need wings to fly. The illustrator has bowed to popular opinion and given the angels glorious wings which, however, doesn't really subtract from the force of the presentation.

I've already loaned my copy to a Christian school, and the administrator is asking for more. I recommend King of Glory without equivocation and without reservation. This is a worthwhile book indeed!

    Great book

Would highly recommend this book for children of all ages (I'm 73). The book is written in such a way that you can take a break at the end of any page and pick up there the next time you have time to read. Great for reading to young children/grandchildren, etc. The pictures are a fabulous way to add depth and understanding to the text.
