King Of Murder by:Betsy Byars mystery, 115 pages Two friends go into a store where they see the owner talking to someone that looks like Dracula. They went closer to get a better look and found out it was an author. Mathias King aka, The Murder King, had written two famous books, A Slash of life and A Sip Of Death. When Heruleah comes out of Deaths Door 'a book store' she goes to a place called Mangolia Downs. There she meets up with an elderly lady named Guilda. When they were getting into Guilda's car, Hearculeah saw Meat 'Albert' getting into a car with another girl. Herculeah spent the rest of the day thinking about how Meat lied to her about going to the dentist. Later, Herculeah gets invited to The Murder Kings house for tea. When he left the room he locked the door. She had to find a way out. She could imagine what it would be like if she never got out. I liked that the characters in the book are around my age. It made it easier to make connections. If i could change I would probably change the chapters. There is not a lot of suspense in the book. I think if there is more chapters it will make it more interesting because it will make you want to keep reading it. Id recommend this book to kids in sixth or seventh grade because it is a little confusing and i think that kids in this grade will be able to understand it. On a scale of 1-10 I give this book an 8. -JC
