For those of us who are residents of Kingsville, Texas, Tom Lea's two-volume set on the world-renowned King Ranch is canonical. This is what we still read, discuss and agree on as authoritative. Issued in 1957, this work has staying power extending to over a half century now. No need to purchase the expensive and very limited "Saddle Blanket" edition, distributed to King and Kleberg family members and special friends of the Ranch, unless you are looking for a truly unique gift. Ranching is a way of life for us in South Texas. Tom Lea's study is a living documentary of the world's biggest ranch and its extensive family, who loved it and defined it and handed it forward to the present day.Was this review helpful?
