I love England and Paul Theroux's journey around the English coast is another of his quirky but fun trips. Paul Theroux has a gift for writing about the things many of us will never see. Paul's ability to visualize what he's experiencing through his writings allows his reader the ability to see as he sees. The way Theroux inter acts with the people of the places he visits brings humor, insight and many times a vacation experience to his readers. Paul Theroux is always a good read.
I read this book decades ago when it was first printed. It is an astoundingly excellent depiction of just what Great Britain is. I read it before our first trip to England, and found, first hand, so very much of it to be as we traveled around. And the depiction of the "troubles" in N. Ireland that were still going on when I read the book, is spot on! Read this as a travelogue or an adventure, but please....Read It!
