The exclusive B&N edition includes a pull-out timeline of the history of the Scarlet Guard, as well as an exclusive Q&A with Elizabeth Banks, director of the upcoming Red Queen feature film.

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard's bestselling Red Queen series, allegiances are tested on every side. And when the lightning girl's spark is gone, who will light the way for the rebellion?

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continues organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Editorial Reviews

USA Today
PRAISE FOR RED QUEEN: “A sizzling, imaginative thriller, where romance and revolution collide, where power and justice duel. It’s exhilarating. Compelling. Action-packed. Unputdownable.”
“A volatile world with a dynamic heroine.”
Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books
“[Aveyard] sets her audience up for a gaspworthy twist that reconfigures nearly every character’s role and leaves Mare with no one to trust but herself... This blend of fantasy and dystopia will be an unexpected and worthy addition to many genre fans’ reading list.”

I didn't want to set the book down!! I can't wait for the 4th already, even though this book just came out! Authors writing style is consistent through the series, and so much happens that it's a page turner. It's also nice to see other points of view in the book, but Mare's voice is always the best viewpoint. Can't wait for the next book!!

Overall the book was a good read but I feel like the writer spent too much time on Mare's imprisonment and not enough on the ending. It was like she just gave up at the end. I read the entire series and it felt like a let down to have it ended with no real conclusion.

I don't know how i feel about this book. It to me lacks something the other book has maybe it's the grab you from the first page feeling, maybe it's just me being finicky but so far this author has impressed me beyond words, but this book just didn't do it. This book to me felt like a filler book and maybe because i was under the impression of this being the last book is what gave me this feeling and the fact that there is another book this may be true because i love this series and im excited for the next book. I appreciate the backstories to many characters being told and many gaps filled but overall this book doesn't hold a candle to the other two i haven't a clue why maybe it needs a reread but it's still a good one i look forward to the movie and the next installment.

I was very disappointed with the ending of kings cage. So much time was spent building up characters and in 2 pages everything was over. So many things were left without being addressed. It's like she ran out of time so just stopped writing. There could be a whole other book after this. The characters actions at the end don't go along with their actions in the rest of the books. To me it just felt like she said I'm tired of writing and placed a period and that was it.

Long and drawn out. I had to skim through a good portion of this book. The ending was unexpected and very disappointing .

I agree completely with the other reviewer who complained of so much time spent on her imprisonment and so very very little on the unsatisfactory ending. After all of Mare"s struggles, sacrifices and pain it is almost the height of irony that it feels like the author of her tale shrugged her off at the end. It left me with a sour taste and I read a lot of dystopian books. I don't expect all tales to have an HEA but I do like complete well thought out endings especially from a series of books. Sadly disappointing.
