This work tries desperately hard to sound like sophisticated prose and fails miserably. Mixed metaphors and clanging similes are punctuated by words misused to the point of abuse. Any reader with a passing familiarity with the English language spends more time cringing at the awkward attempts at literature than enjoying the book. Lauren L is trying way, way too hard.
For all it's pseudo-style, this book has even less substance. A housewife checks herself into Bravada, which (near as I can tell after 100 pages) is some kind of Betty-Ford-of-Bondage. Fine as far as it goes, but so far Venica has been bounced from one imperious female dom to another. None are particularly interesting. Sex takes a backseat to domineering psychobabble.
The book is free, so I can't complain too much. Anyone looking for good bsdsm reading should look elsewhere. Chris Snow & Ashley Zacharias both offer far better works in the "free" category.

Rhe ending to this book was very sad. Where did Domina go? What was her urgent business? And why was Venica rushedhome lile that? Other than the crap ending the book was good albet choppy in some instances.

When I first started reading this book, I almost put it down. The opening scene starts off rather choppy, with some rather pointless mental forays the author felt would appropriately enlighten the reader. But after two or three pages in, the plot suddenly roared to life and took off.
First of all, the author uses a past tense third person narrative mode that works well with her writing. The POV however is limited almost exclusively to her main character. The first few pages are choppy, but once the erotica starts, the author does a pretty decent job in communicating the physical and emotional context. I especially appreciated some of the word choices she used. Her descriptions were rather unique in the erotica literature world and it gave some of the writing a rather ethereal feel.
There are times that emotional description overwhelms the narrative, causing the built up sexual tension to destabilize, but over all, the story works on several levels.

This work is thought provoking - and clearly intended as such. Very impressive.

True to life and different scenes for each chapter. Great femdom. Mostly veggie scenes. Awesome psych dynamics. I am waiting for a sequel!
