The Bible proclaims that believers should "make a joyful noise unto the Lord," and the spirited, contemporary gospel choir One Nation Crew apparently heard that message loud and clear. The Bible proclaims that believers should "make a joyful noise unto the Lord," and the spirited, contemporary gospel choir One Nation Crew apparently heard that message loud and clear. On their debut disc, Kirk Franklin Presents One Nation Crew, the ten-member, multicultural choir inspire listeners with a soul-stirring collection of musically diverse songs that were written, produced, and arranged by Franklin. The contemporary gospel star has already blessed the realms of Christian and urban music with exemplary discs by God's Property and Kirk Franklin & the Family, as well as the star-studded Nu Nation Project which includes cameos by Mary J. Blige, Bono of U2, and R. Kelly, and One Nation Crew are merely another extension of Franklin's moving musical ministry. On the booming, Latin-and hip-hop-infused first single, "Nobody," the choir's soulful voices meld in syncopated unison, and "Be Like Him" incorporates South African singers and rhythms. Lyrically, Franklin has always tried to appeal to younger listeners with undeniably catchy anthems such as "Stomp," and on One Nation Crew, he scores once again with the sassy "Hands Up": "All my people put your hands up.../I'm praising God because I'm no joke/Devil tried to run up on me/Got his neck broke." Another highlight is the tear-jerking ballad "Free," which explores the spiritual concept that while man was born with free will, only God's love can set him free. Somebody say Amen!
All Music Guide - Steve Huey
The title of Kirk Franklin Presents: One Nation Crew doesn't exaggerate: Franklin wrote, produced, and arranged most of the album's material. However, the One Nation Crew prove themselves an extremely versatile performing outfit, crossing stylistic boundaries with aplomb: the record features not only contemporary gospel, but also touches on disparate styles like urban R&B, hip-hop, Latin-style dance, and straight-ahead pop. Overall, it's quite an accomplished debut.
Entertainment Weekly - Josef Woodward
1NC (1 Nation Crew) ... an ambitious concept album, interwoven with spoken word about harsh realities as well as soulful appeals.

    My Final Answer is 1NC

What can I say? I've been one of the biggest fans of Kirk Franklin ever since he came out. This particular CD is my favorite. I'm a praise dancer and enjoy everyone one of his songs. If I tried, I'd probably do a praise dance off of each one. I know that the crew worked very hard and put in long hours to help create this amazing work. I believe everyone did a fantastic job - from singing, playing instruments, and organizing the background crew, who most people don't mention. I can listen to this CD over and over. I choose it above all the rest of his songs. Although his other songs are good, this one is the best. One more thing, at the end of this CD, he sings an alter call, which is very important because you not only want people to listen to your music but most of all, accept salvation. That is what Christians are called to do - win souls. I recommend this album to everyone, no discrimination necessary. Thanks, Kirk Franklin. YOU'RE THE BEST!! I praise God for giving you the wisdom that you need to put this piece of work together. All glory goes to the Lord.

    Kirk Franklin Rocks the Nation

This CD, and all of Kirk's other CDs, has the bad boy 'tude of a rapper, but the catchy lyrics scream anything other than the profanity-congested music of this day and age. This cd, with it's hit ''Free'', gives christian teens, as well as some of the older generations, the realisation that there is a music artist (worthy of listening to) that is on their side. That of course doesn't leave out the awesome works of Fred Hammond and Crystal Lewis and the likes, but it more or less adds to the growing multitude of christian artists amazing us with their unbelievable defiance to the world opposition. With many thanks to Kirk and 1NC, there finally is some hope in this bleak world. thank you!
