Overview

The Vampress Luxura first appeared in the pages of the original Vamperotica anthology comic series.

This trade paperback collects the first volume of stories and characters that are part of the Red Reign Chronicles story line.

Created by artist, writer and publisher, Kirk Lindo, The Vampress Luxura is a centuries old Vampire that has built a kingdom which spreads out across the four corners of the Earth. Her monarchy is overseen from her vast, underground labyrinthine estate below the city of Manhattan, New York.

Her complex is made up of caverns, tunnels and underground castles. She has several trophy rooms and an extensive system of tunnels that lead to many above ground locations. Some of the above ground locations are buildings and business establishments owned by the Vampress.

In her subterranean manor, Luxura has an enormous Blood Vault which resembles a wine cellar. The vault houses thousands upon thousands of bottles. Stored within these bottles is the blood of humans, Kith and super naturals that Luxura has been collecting for over 1000 years. Each bottle has a picture of whose blood is inside. Some of the older bottles have hand drawn pictures while some of the newer bottles have photographs. In this blood collection is every conceivable historical figure that you can think of, from Julius Ceaser to Adolf Hitler. She did not personally collect all of this Blood, some of it she purchased and received as gifts. Other Vampires also collect blood but Luxura's collection is the greatest of all. Her collection is preserved by a magic spell and talisman that she acquired from an ancient sorcerer, keeping the blood fresh, like the day it was first bled. Many in the Kith leadership have often wondered why she has been so obsessed with the collection and storage of blood.

As a Judicious Kith(Vampire), Luxura works to maintain the vampire community's three Edicts:

Sustain the Blood Source (mortals), Regulate the Kith (vampires) and Maintain Discretion.

This book is the perfect introduction to the Luxura Universe. Included in this volume are Red Reign stories from Vicious #1, Vamperotica # 1,2,3,4, 6, 7, Rescueman #1, Vampress Luxura #1 and Legends of Luxura #1.

Meet the Author

Author, Artist, Publisher

Kirk Lindo is the Owner and CEO of PerForce Publishing, a multi-media company which produces a line graphic novels and digital comics. Kirk is an alumnus of the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York, NY. As a student there, he had the rare privilege of studying under comics’ legend and creator of the modern graphic novel, Will Eisner.

Kirk began his professional career as an advertising Art Director and later became the Marketing Director for MV Sport, a New York based sportswear manufacturer. Kirk’s first break into the comic book industry came in the early 90’s when he was hired by an up and coming comic company. That company was Adam Post’s Personality Comics, a small but highly successful comic publisher who marketed a line of biographical comics. Kirk went on to become the company’s Editor-In-Chief and Senior Vice President of Product Development. In less than two years Kirk helped the company grow from a part-time office of three to a full blown production studio employing 30 in-house and over 100 freelance artists and writers.

In 1993, Kirk launched Brainstorm Comics, publishing a variety of creator-owned properties. Kirk’s own creation of the VAMPEROTICA comic series in the mid to late 90’s built a large and loyal fan following and became the company’s most successful publication. VAMPEROTICA is an illustrated vampire anthology comic. The covers and interior pages of the VAMPEROTICA feature Kirk’s most enduring creation, The Vampress Luxura. Running for 50 issues, VAMPEROTICA spun off into several products including magazines, trading cards, collectible statues, music CDs and an independent film entitled Vamperotica: Tales from the Bloodvault.

In 2009 Kirk launched PerForce Publishing and is develpoing a line of graphic novels and books based on characters from the original Vamperotica and Vampress Luxura comic publications.

Probably good, but really hard to read.

I think that Luxura is an interesting character. She is a vampiress in skimpy clothes. She kicks butt. And, she gets naked in the first few pages. (So, no kids!)

It can be difficult to understand the storyline because this comic is not formatted for Nook Tablet. It really needs to be. I cannot read the dialogue without forcing the Nook to zoom in on each page. Then I have to stretch it in order to read the dialogue. This is very time consuming and annoying.

There is another Luxura comic offerred by B&N that is correctly formatted for Nook Tablet. It is less expensive, and more easily viewed. It is part 1 of a 3 part series. Check that one out. Forget this until it gets re-formatted.
