Overview

Mercedes lived her life through her books. Her past led her to want to live a life of solidarity, so she stayed busy and claimed happiness. She buried her past as well as her emotions; shying away from men was a habit as it had become her principle. Mercedes was guarded and pampered by her friend until one night one of her roommate's friends picked up her photograph and felt a pull as he had stared into the eyes. Fate, destiny, Kismet.
Mercedes walked out of her sister's wedding after being told the night before by her mother that she had set her up with her sister's fiancés cousin. It was after this that her life took a turn, and she found herself a victim to a vindictive family who blamed her for their father's imprisonment. She was being followed as her family and friends tried to protect her, but she was learning how to trust the one man that she had managed to avoid as he took pleasure in trying to prove her theory 'of want for nothing- need nothing' wrong.
Would she be able to place her trust and her life in Zach's hands or would she just continue to exist? It was kismet that brought them together as it is life that tears them apart. What happens next is up to her.

Meet the Author

I was born the middle child of six children. I was the only daughter of struggling middle-class parents in Greensboro, NC. I graduated from high school with no clue as to what I wanted to do with life. College was out of the question due to finances. I dove into working two jobs because I wanted to be on my own.
When I wasn't working, I was reading. A true addict to books; I would read five to six books at a time. It wouldn't be until later that I would discover my hunger to write. That want quickly turned into a need.

She is rude and very mean. It is unpleasant to read as the hero is typically sweet romance. I only finished the book because I cannot start and not finish. My character flaw. I would not recommend.

Mercedes and Zach seemed to be destined for each other, but Mercedes comes with a lot of emotional baggage that makes her not trust men. Zach appears to just be a cowboy but in reality, he is a child psychiatrist and he tries to help Mercedes tackle her demons. Everyones lives get turned around as Mercedes' past abusers come back to seek revenge and finish her off. This 768 page story has a good story line, but I was getting a little frustrated with a few grammatical and sentence structure errors (about 10 errors per chapter). With that said, it is still an entertaining, suspenseful read that has a book two follow up "Karma".

I cared enough to stick with the story, but there were a lot of typos and mis-used words; punctuation problems. I will try some of her other books to see if she improves. I am distracted by the above problems and find it takes me away from the story when it happens.
