Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
This entertaining anthology features three female protagonists who hate Valentine’s Day until they are presented with a reason to change their mind. Ryan Ashton is not looking forward to the upcoming holiday, especially since her crush doesn’t look at her as more than a friend in Gary’s “The Trouble with Sexy.” Ryan finally takes charge and, with the help of a makeover and date auction, finally gets her man. In Cheryl Harper’s “Love Me Tender,” Julie Dillon is stuck in an Elvis-themed hotel in the middle of a snowstorm with coworker Luke Pearce. She doesn’t trust that Luke’s affections go beyond using her to better his career. Can Luke convince Julie that his motivations are sincere and that he isn’t just a “hound dog”? Jaclyn Hatcher adds a bit of danger in “Love, Guns, and Heart-Shaped Chocolate” when Katie Quinn finds herself on the lam with Logan Cross, despite her plan to spend the holiday solo. A misunderstanding has them running from money-hungry killers, but love manages to find Logan and Katie, even in the direst of situations.

Verdict Readers will commiserate with the characters’ contempt for Valentine’s Day, but these three charming stories will change the hearts of even the most hardened cynics.—Kara Kohn, Plainfield P.L., IL

Meet the Author

An obsessive bookworm, Codi Gary likes to write sexy contemporary romances with humor, grand gestures, and blush-worthy moments. When she's not writing, she can be found reading her favorite authors, squealing over her must-watch shows, and playing with her children. She lives in Idaho with her family.

Whether she's writing, reading, or just checking the items off of her daily to-do list, small-town girl Cheryl Harper loves her romance mixed with a little laughter. When she's not working, you will find her ignoring housework, cursing yard work, and spending way too much time with a television remote in her hand.

Jaclyn Hatcher has always held a love for romance and adventure, and with an imagination that won't shut up, what else is there to do but write? She's an artist, a black belt in karate, and a lover of all things coffee. She lives in Southeast Michigan but vows she'll never get used to cold weather.

Sometimes anthologies are perfect for my mood, and this collection of three fun, romantic, and sexy contemporary stories were exactly what I've been looking for! The Trouble With Sexy by Codi Gary This was a fun, romantic, sexy story about a boss and his employee who become friends, then much more. I enjoyed this and felt the author did a great job of giving us an awesome story with wonderful characters. We get a happily ever after that didn't feel rushed, which can sometimes be an issue with novellas, but not this one! There are a couple of others characters who are just begging to have their stories told, and I hope it happens. I'm looking forward to more by Ms. Gary! Are You Lonesome Tonight by Cheryl Harper Julie Dillon and Luke Pearce are co-workers on their way home from a business trip when they find themselves snowed in, sharing a hotel room themed after anything and everything Elvis. It’s such a fun story! I wish Julie had been less grumbly, but in the end she came around in a very clever way, and that's what matters most! Ms. Harper writes a cute, witty and definitely steamy story! Love, Guns, and Heart Shaped Chocolate by Jaclyn Hatcher This story isn't at all what I was expecting, but awesome, all the same. Katie had planned to spend her Valentine’s Day alone, watching movies and drowning her sorrows in chocolate, but her best friend’s brother has other ideas! Before they know it, they’re running for their lives in this fast paced romantic suspense that’s plenty sexy, and fun! Logan and Katie are great together, and with other characters, Will and Tracy, there's the potential for more exciting reading! Three debut authors, three thoroughly entertaining Valentine's Day stories! 3.5/5 My thanks to Avon Books and Edelweiss for providing me with a copy of this anthology in exchange for an honest review.
