I also had my doubts about this newest installment of the Morganville Vampire series, but I was proved completely wrong! It was the best one by far. Rachel Caine just keeps throwing random, awesome curve ball, every time you open her newest book. This is my favorite series of all time, and if you haven't read them yet, go out and buy them all right this instant! Claire's character has developed so much since the first book, and truly she is my favorite main character ever! Shane is still Shane, but he too has grown. You learn more about his cryptic past in each book. Eve, well there are no words to describe Eve. She's really cool and hilarious. Michael is still sweet Michael, but has grown up a lot since the beginning. I personally can't wait until November 2, when the 9th book comes out. It's called Ghost Town. It just sounds so cool. The cover is amazing and the best one yet. Well, just to sum it up, Morganville = Amazing!!

I was instantly hooked after reading the first book, just had to get used to the author writing in the 3rd person. Glad to hear there's a 9th book to look forward to. After reading book 8th I hoped this wasn't the end, the main characters have more dangers and experiences to deal with. I have recommend this series to all my friends.

This was surely a good book. I wouldn't say it was as good as all the other books in the series but it was a good book. Claire, in my opinion, is pretty annoying. She always has to be so fakely "badass". Shane is still Shane, broad and pretty smooth with his comebacks and sarcasm. Michael is becoming to feel closer to Eve and *SPOILER* feels bad that he is not able to give her children. Eve is clingy and has lost her edge. She's crying and passing out every second. Grrrrr! And of course Myrnin's crazyness is greatly missed in the book. Oliver is a complete badass and actually shows that he has a great sense of humor in this book. I don't really like how the book ended but yeah, it was a pretty good book. Can't wait for the next one!

I liked Morganville Vampires more than the Twilight series. I hope she keeps them coming, a must read! I just could not put the book down. It keeps you interested from page to page.

Claire just made a deal to save her life, but before she can meet her end of the bargain, she and her friends gain passes out of town. Record producers want to hear Michael perform. Claire, Eve, and Shane will accompany him to Dallas. They can't believe their good luck, until they learn they will be escorted and supervised by Oliver. First, Oliver disappears on business. Then they offend people at a truck stop. They find a nearby motel to crash for the night. Instead of a peaceful night, though, trouble finds them. The men from the truck stop torch their car before they go missing. After shopping for a new car, Claire, Eve, and Shane return to the motel to find the police waiting for them. They're arrested in connection with the men's suspicious disappearances. They know it will be nightfall before the rescue party comes knocking, but the vampire rescuing them is the vampire who wants to kill them. Now, they're fighting for their lives once again. Will the human trio become a vampire snack, or will Oliver be their only chance at survival? Claire and her friends find deadly trouble wherever they go, even outside Morganville. KISS OF DEATH continues in this series of wild adventures, fatal danger, and trouble at every turn. Through it all, these four friends remain together and united. Rachel Caine delivers another winning chapter of this addicting series.

Love the book but it's a fast read. I wish they were more story content to read since we have to wait 6 months or more for the next one.

I love the Morganville Vampires series, and this book kept me entertained. I loved that Claire and her friends got to leave Morganville to travel with Michael for his studio recording. And their escort person makes the adventure that much more entertaining. You never know who is going to be the good or bad guys. As the series continue, the characters, especially some of the more mysterious ones, get more intertwined in Claire's life. I really like how Claire and her friends always stick together through everything. They are tempermental and emotional and it only makes the read that much more fun. I can't wait for the next one!

Morganville, Texas was founded by vampires led by Amelia who sought a safe haven for her species from human hunters. The town is a melting pot of sorts but to keep mortals safe, each human resident has a vampiric Protector. Blood is dispensed at blood banks and no one is allowed to leave once you enter although Amelia has allowed one exception; Claire, Shane, Michael and Evie may go to Dallas so that the vampire Michael can record his music. On their way, their guard and escort Oliver has them stop in Durrram where he and Michael conduct business while leaving Claire alone. However, Morley and his vampiric followers who oppose the Morganville rules hijack them. Michael and Oliver rescue the others, but they end up on the deserted town of Blacke. The Morley vampires attack, but something more feral assaults both sides as zombie vampires seek to dine on each of the combatants. The eighth Morganville Vampire saga is different than most of the previous entries as the heroes are outside the town so obtain a taste where the local rules do not apply. Thus the audience sees a diverse species as vampires come in different types and philosophies especially re humans. A refreshing and totally entertaining tale, Kiss of Death is a super Texas fantasy as the Rachel Caine's world of vampires expands to the delight of teen readers and us folks in the Twilight of our years. Another win for Ms. Caine and her vampires! I love this series, I'm only bummed I waited so long to read it. This whole time we've been reading, thinking that leaving Morganville isn't going to happen for our main four...but it DOES! And, of course, madness ensues. This book was Anything but predictable! We may have assumed that trouble would follow these four as they venture out into the world, but not this much trouble from this many sources. It's just one thing after another for our group and even with an older experience vamp as an escort, things just keep going down hill. This book will definitely keep you on your toes, on the edge of your seat and just wondering what will happen next! There wasn't so much of a cliffhanger this time, so readers can rest assured that if they do not have book 9, they will not be screaming at themselves. But the series is good enough that they WILL want to get their hands on it quickly.

I am never let down with Cain's characters! Clair is badass in this one and we see other characters in whole different lights and its simply amazing! Truly loved Oliver, we get to see a more...."human?" Part of him that's just amazing and another Vamp comes to play that also shows some new characteristics! Cain continues to astound us!

I wanted to read this one because I have been hardcore addicted to this series, and it is so nice that they are all released and I don't have to play the waiting game.    I love the pink laundry, the softer side of Eve even though its hard to see her insecure and not fully understanding where things stand, not only with Michael but with her newly reformed brother. I did enjoy seeing Michael in his element with the rock star deal, but he seemed more distant in this one and I was afraid that I would lose the caring, protective and cuddly Michael to the hardened vampire persona.     One quote I love though that describes the development of Shane's character and how being in love and living out his protective streak is changing him. (from Michael) "Huh. The universe explodes, hell freezes over and Shane does something reasonable." It just so fits their dynamic perfectly...      What started out and what they hoped would be a nice taste of freedom from Morganville and a good time with friends, of course, couldn't be just that with this group of friends. They found trouble in so many ways. Some of it their escort helped them get into and others they did just fine getting into it all own their own.      There were some steamy moments with Shane and Claire to keep me going. And Myrnin was there for part of it, and I love our crazy vamp. Claire mentioned at one point in time that he was both mad and brilliant, and it battled which would exhibit in any given moment.     The ending was perfect but bittersweet. As many of you may have guessed, I will def be continuing this series. And soon.  Bottom Line: The trouble they always seemed to find had me on my toes.
