Overview

For fifteen years Luc Le Daun has blamed himself for the death of the woman he loved. His secret guilt has led him into a life of danger, risking all and committing to none.

Killing Luc Le Daun has been all Jade Kendell has thought about for years. But when her plan goes awry and she's brought into the Bringers' fold, her own dark secret threatens to be revealed. Desire for a better life wars with a promise made long before she understood the ramifications.

In a deadly mission, Jade and Luc embark on a journey into the Shadow World. As they attempt the impossible, ignoring the attraction growing between them becomes harder to deny. The slightest misstep could mean the loss of their souls and give the Demon King exactly what he needs to open the Abyss of Souls and annihilate the Bringers.

I got into this story immediately unlike the first one. However, I couldn't really identify with Jade, and have felt more of a connection with Ravyn as her personality seems more rational to me. When I analyzed why I couldn't identify with Jade, I came up with "immaturity". Since Jade is only 19 and I'm much older, Boone was very successful at creating Jade. I love all the other characters in the story and series. Despite my issues with the personality of Jade this was a wonderfully wrought story. I know there is so much more to Icarus, but I don't know what. It's driving me crazy wondering. I have a very good guess, but don't want to ruin it for other readers in case I'm right. The future story reveals are skillfully presented and interwoven. The overall story is magnificent. The plot is spot on and I haven't seen holes yet. Often when I have a question it is subtly answered later in the story or in some cases, in the next book. The series is proving to be very complex with many layers and I'm loving it.

What an outstanding read,  Shield of fire is excellent, but Kiss of the Betrayer is outstanding. I was sorry when I reached the end..... wondering would would happen to Rell and Siban,  the bane and all those frozen bringers. It would be excellent if there was another book!....I can only hope there is. Boone has excelled herself with this book.....well done.....a very exciting and thorough read  with plenty of depth and enough romance to keep you longing for that hero!! Bravo and thank you for such a great read....................

Isn’t it amazing to fall into a series of books and become addicted to the well crafted story and characters?  Boone Brux has created a fantasy world so vivid and compelling that you’ll find yourself whisked away, waiting with baited breath as every chapter unfolds.  Luc and Jade come to the forefront in this portion of the Bringer and Bane series. The undercurrents of their love story unfold as Jade and Luc face their common past to find their future together.  This is a marvelous addition to my library. I highly recommend it for the action, the adventure, the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. It is a definite page turner that is hard to put down!

This is not a book that you can just pick up and read. You have to read the first book in the series before reading this one. Even though the two books don't revolve around the same main characters, Luc and Jade play big roles in the first book. Without reading it, you won't know their history or have a good grasp of the Bane and everything that's going on. Trust me, I know. I started the series with this book. Made it to about the third chapter, gave up, bought the first book and had no problem picking up the story after. Like I said we meet Luc and Jade in the first book. Luc is a man whore and Jade has not hid the fact that she plans to kill him. However, it isn't until Kiss of the Betrayer that we find out why she is so hostile towards Luc. Considering that Jade has sort of been on her own since she was a kid and Luc being Luc, there is a lot more action in this book. The two main characters from Shiels of Fire, Ravyn and Rhys play a huge part in this novel. We also follow Incarus again while in the Shadow World and watch as he develops an attachment to another Bane. There wasn't a whole heck of a lot of romance in this story. The fighting and fantasy world definitely take take the forefront in this story. Not that I'm complaining because I liked all of the action. The only thing that I didn't like was the dialogue, it seems rather robotic and choppy. It didn't flow as well as I'd have liked and that really took away from the story for me. Overall, this is a great continuation of the story. I wasn't surprised that Luc and Jade got their own story but I'm curious if we will move onto someone else or if we will continue to follow these four while they battle the Bane.

Jade has known nothing but the yearning for revenge against Luc Le Daun for his betrayal against her family. Luc has his demons but none more than the blame he puts on himself for the death of the woman he loved. Brought together by their past can they find a way to move forward together to ensure their future. You will find yourself immersed in this series and the characters will have you turning each page anticipating what is to come. The Bringer and Bane series only grows and gets better with each book and I hope there will be many more to come. Kiss of the Betrayer is book 2 in the Bringer and the Bane series by Boone Brux.

Kiss of the Betrayer continues the saga of the battle between the Bringers and and Bane. I loved Shield of Fire and Kiss was more of the same excellent writing, except now the reader gets to delve deeper into the relationships of not only the good guys, but of the Demon Bane. Jade and Luc's story is full of antagonism and secrets. It's fun, exciting and has a lot more twists and turns than Shield of Fire. Excellent series. I can't wait to see what's happening with Icarus, the Demon Kings son. Hopefully, he'll have his own book.
