Now in KISS: The Early Years co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have put together a collection of photos and text that give fans an insider's look at their life on stage performing for thousands of screaming fans and backstage when the make up came off. Photographer Waring Abbott, who has photographed the band for years, has an amazingly intimate array of photos, most of which will be published for the first time. These photos perfectly capture the energy, the chaos, the outrageousness of life with Gene, Paul, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, and Gene and Paul's text provides a running commentary of what the band was thinking and doing during this wild time. KISS fans have never had such an up close and personal look at their favorite band, and rock and roll fans in general will be thrilled to see such an important band and pivotal time in rock history captured in such a visually stunning way.

"The Early Years", written by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, is the best Kiss book. Gene and Paul, both great musicians, are also great writers. This book tells the story about Kiss from 1973 to 1981 and goes into detail about their beginnings and includes their famous visit to Cadillac High School in Cadillac, Michigan, where even the school principal wore Kiss makeup. It talks about Eric Carr joining the band after Peter Criss' departure. The pictures are from the private collections of Gene and Paul, some never before released. Kiss fans, this is the ultimate Kiss book!

This is a great book with amazing photos from '73-'82, but the photos have been damaged, in my opinion. In every single shot, someone has added a "twinkle" in the eyes of every person. In some cases it looks natural, but in most cases it looks bad. This may seem trivial, but it really makes the photos look weird. Be warned. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
