From the Publisher

"Saltzberg (Animal Kisses) returns with another touch-and-feel book about kisses, with plenty of textures and interactive features accompanying rhymed text (“Kisses in the... morning./ Kisses on your... nose”)...Kids will enjoy the element of surprise helping move the action forward."--Publishers Weekly

Toddlers and the people who read to them will love this bulky little book with its appealing illustrations and warm words of affection. The first double-page spread, "Kisses in the morning," shows a mama kangaroo kissing her baby who is just popping out of its pocket as the sun is coming up behind them. For "Kisses on your nose," mama elephant is wearing a perky red hat and holding her trunk straight out to kiss the outstretched trunk of her young son in his bright green jacket and red-and-yellow striped shirt. There are five more spreads of mommies and daddies sharing kisses with their offspring ending in a nighttime scene titled, "A lullaby of kisses," featuring mama bird singing to her fledgling in its nest. When a tab is pulled the stars in the sky turn into hearts. The final spread has 15 lift-the-flaps labeled with the letters of the alphabet, and underneath the tabs are a surprising assortment of unexpected kissers. Would you believe a monkey kissing a newt? PreS—In this interactive, touch-and-feel book, animal babies receive lots of love. "KISSES in the…morning./KISSES on your…nose./KISSES on your…head./KISSES on your…toes." There are many pull tabs and gatefold surprises that will delight young audiences, from wiggling puppy ears to swinging monkeys. The cartoon illustrations are complemented by bright background colors. The simple rhyming text invites lots of parental participation. While the tabs and textured fabric elements may limit shelf life, the book is perfect for sharing in baby storytimes.—Linda Ludke, London Public Library, Ontario, Canada

Saltzberg (Animal Kisses) returns with another touch-and-feel book about kisses, with plenty of textures and interactive features accompanying rhymed text (“Kisses in the... morning./ Kisses on your... nose”). A sausage dog kisses his little one on the head; pulling a tab makes the puppy's ears rise with glee. And later a monkey swings via pull-tab to kiss a little monkey's toes. At the end, letters of the alphabet appear on colored tabs, like miniature valentines, with more smooching animals inside. Kids will enjoy the element of surprise helping move the action forward. Up to age 3. (Jan.)
