Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Published in Britian last year, this anthology represents an impressive collaborative effort in feminist research and writing. Working mainly from archival and manuscript sources, the editors have assembled a selection of previously unavailable works by some 50 17th-century women poets, most unknown to modern readers. Each selection includes interesting biographical material and notes on variant textual sources. While some of the poetry will be difficult reading for those who are not 17th-century specialists, the editors have successfully sought to make their selections accessible. Accompanied by a useful critical and historical introduction, this work should inspire further worthwhile research.-- Mollie Brodsky, Rutgers Univ., New Brunswick, N.J.
