Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"[M]aking jams, drying herbs, making flavored vinegars and oils, braiding onions and garlic… it's all here. I wish I'd had this cookbook years ago when I was first getting started in the garden!" – Plantoeat.com

The only vegetable cookbook you'll ever need!

Where do I start? This cookbook is imaginative, versatile, educational, fun to read, incredibly useful, and beautiful. I do not say this lightly, I am very picky about cookbooks. At first glance, you see beautiful hi-def glossy photos of garden fresh vegetables on every page, in every color imaginable. How appetizing! Digging deeper, you find recipes for every course from appetizers to dessert and everything in between, organized by season. Some are simple, some more complex, and some that even children will love. This is NOT an "open a can and dump it in" book, this is a book which teaches you how to really cook and connect with your food while keeping it both easy enough for a beginner and interesting enough for the experienced cook. It takes you from harvest to table step by step, right down to when to pick the food and how to store it and preserve it if you're growing your own. They range from the funny sounding Warm Pea Pancakes, to gourmet Potato Dauphinoise, to the comfortably familiar Corn Chowder, with a sprinkling of herbal recipes like Lavender Syrup and Mint Cordial. If you enjoy fresh food, this is the cookbook for you. There are recipes for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans too! You won't be disappointed!
